Could end up being a very good hire, but it will take the casual Gopher fans a while to warm up to him.

I'm surprised how little the sports writers here even know about him.
Who cares. Casual gopher fans are retards, and they thought they were going to get some huge name.

Kill is a good hire. He has won everywhere he was been.

I hope Kill has a desire to play local FCS schools.

gopher fans suffer from the delusion that they are a "major" cfb program... they are little more than an oversized MAC school... so bringing in a MAC coach is probably a good idea.

as for the sportswriters in the twintowns - they barely bother to cover gopher sports or know what the hell they are talking about in general...

the stupidity that emanates from the gopher program is stunning - they got tubby smith in hoops and their fans just assumed that someone like mike leach or mark mangino would just fall in to their lap. my hunch is that every single guy they interviewed before Kill went through the same thought process "nice stadium, weak recruiting base, and an AD who could be replaced by shit-flinging spider monkey and nobody would notice... eh, I think I'll stay in (name your warm weather destination)

I think this bodes well for the dakota schools, uni and western illinois... in terms of scheduling.

as a bison fan, i'm terrified that Kill will not be so stupid as Mason and Brewster were. Their unwillingness to recruit the Twin Cities (apart from losing the 5 stars to Ohio State, Notre Dame and Miami or the 4 stars to Wisconsin and Iowa) made winners out the Bison and Jacks... I'm hoping I'm wrong (since the Bison do well at plucking Wisconsin as well) - but Kill knows that there is talent at the FCS level - talent that has, since 2006 either beaten or taken to the wall, the Gophers...

and Wyoming and Ball State and Central Michigan and Kansas. Its a record of wins the Gophers wish they had.

GREAT HIRE! Minnesota is sending me 2011 Golden Gopher Fund info as of TODAY. Glad the Gophers didn't get a "name". Jerry Kill will get the job done. Believe that!

Brewster is interviewing at TXST on Tues or Weds.
Others under consideration are Franchione, Jerry Gray (yeah that one), Les Koenning and Bobby Jack Wright
Minnesota sucks and winning there is hard to come by. (TB should feel right at home  )

Ugh!, Ugh! Take Brewsters' OC, he would be a much better coach than Timmy, in fact he has more wins than Timmy this season. He'll start out by calling it the Bobcat Nation, the he'll promise something that the Bobcats have never done, and slowing destroy the program like he did in Minnesota. From what the local media in Minnesota says, he doesn't have patience with his assistant coaches, treats them terrible. He has had trouble beating FCS schools, lost every trophy game against every rival, I think he's 0-10 in those games. He was never a head coach at any level until the Minnesota job. If you love Texas St, do anything in your power to stop Brewster from being hired as Head Coach, anything legal that is.

Frankly I think there are quite a few members of this message board who probably could do a better job coaching than Tim Brewster...myself included

I agree that this would be a great choice. Eventually someone will grab him. Minnesota better move quickly to get him.

Journalism in Minnesota is evidently as bad as football. Jerry Kill had two losing seasons at SIU. Fans of the Minnesota Golden Losers want a "name" coach , instead they'll have to settle for a good one.

I have no doubt that Kill will turn around the program. Maybe not Rose Bowl turnaround by next year, but turn them around he will. Players love the guy; he is still very popular here and continues to be active in the Coach Kill Cancer Fund. Couldn't happen to a better man.

turning the sportswriters in this town in sycophantic lackeys is not terribly hard... the apologists abound...

It probably would have been Brady Hoke had a SDSU donor not stepped up and donated $5M to the athletic department (which needs to be matched in order to be given). Needless to say Hoke's contract was extended and it has a $1.5M buyout clause.

the new MWC is a great place for Hoke - and the recruiting hotbed of San Diego... even better. SDSU seems like they could be the next mid-major to make "the jump" in to the Boise, TCU, Utah world...
