I think someone has given some false information cuz the NCAA has rules on what the Stadium Staff can do on the boards/with the speakers system and so forth but they can't control what the crowd does.

from the playing and spectator areas at the request of the NCAA game representative.

We had security roughing people up at the Tub last week over a trumpet. Apparently they were cracking down on a guy that's been playing his trumpet for decades. When they tried to confiscate it, other fans jumped in to show their displeasure and a cop ended up yanking a guy (not the trumpet player) down to the ground hard.

At Montana see we know the rules. We know what rules they couldn't give a flying fuck about. They have never fucked with crowd noise and to say that it's poor sportsmanship is fucking ridiculous.
