NFL Weekly Awards Are A Joke

Post by UNHWildCats »

I know I know... *gasp* Another stupid fucking thread from douchebag UNHWildCats... I get it... I annoy the fuck out of most of you... thats my role... you guys would miss it if I wasnt here posting this stuff all the time.. :thumb:

Anyway...

This past week a certain quarterback who shall remain nameless for a moment.... (Like you dont know who it is     ) put up some pretty damn good numbers. He passed for 369 yards against one of the best defenses in the NFL. He completed 27 of 40 passes while moving to within 41 pass attempts of the NFL record for most attempts without an interception. He added two touchdown passes... did I mention all that came during a frigid Chicago afternoon/evening during a blizzard that 411 miles away put the Metrodome out of commission and onto the NFL injured reserve.

Now... what Tom Brady (duh... like I even needed to name him) did last weekend was impressive... very impressive, and had the NFL given the award to someone who may have been more deserving I wouldnt care... but please tell me what part of 25-35 and 319 yards with 2TD is more impressive than what Brady did in that blizzard? I guess it was a moral victory for Manning to not throw a handful of interceptions again... but the only logical reason the NFL could possibly have for this is they didn't want to give it to Brady for a third week running, deserving or not... so they simply went down the list to find the next best... or third or fifth best performance til they found a Manning to give it to....

WHAT A JOKE!

While I am by no means a fan of Brady (my favorite Patriot QBs are Steve Grogan, Jim Plunkett, and Doug Flutie), I would consider the performance you cited as infinitely better than that put in by Manning, which was quite pedestrian in comparison.

Its funny... I read something today that listed all the starting QBs from the las time Brett Favre didnt start a game and the Patriots QB was the QB back when I started watching football on a weekly basis... (Not sure what it is about a 1-15 or 2-14 Patriots teams that would suck in a kid to make him want to watch every week.. but they did) It was Hugh Millen.... and that brought back great memories from when people would refer to him as Hugh Milliation

I'm still wondering why the Vikes didn't do something cheesy to keep Favre's streak alive. I mean, all they had to do was line him up at wide-out in a single wing formation, snap the ball to their best RB, run it away from Favre, send him to the locker room, and the streak would be intact. Was nobody thinking straight?

but then your wasting a roster spot for a guy for 1 play... a douchbag at that.

But he's on the roster anyway unless they IR him, so it's a wash.

Brady will walk away with the MVP award this year, so this doesn't really mean much, but it was a joke to give Manning this award. Manning isn't even a top 4 QB in the league anymore. Going downhill fast.

Hardly. It's more of a testament to the degredation of his supporting cast. He's now starting to understand Archie's experience in New Orleans.
