The thing that is interesting about this is the decision making process by the school. Once Boise St. broke the ice, the possibilities became endless. Obviously any color can be used. And any pattern can be used. But this decision comes at a time when artificial turf is being made to look (and feel) more and more real. It is no longer a "carpet" and now is made with blades of "grass".

This all kind of reminds me of the old Montreal Forum. Those of you who watched hockey pre 1980 probably remember the light blue dashers at the bottom of the boards. The NHL actually had a rule that the dashers had to be yellow, but Montreal always had blue. Everyone just looked the other way on the rule until Quebec decided they wanted blue dasher too, and another team threatened to make their dashers orange... then the NHL had to enforce the rule.





BTW, can anyone tell me the other oddity about the old Montreal Forum?

Hey, there is always a first to try something new or different. You guys had the guts to try it. But don't blame the "outsiders" for not having the same amount of enthusiasm over it as you do.

We don't now, and those who made the decision welcomed the idea that it would piss off certain outsiders.

Don't get this confused with other situations. Outsiders are not "pissed off". This is not a matter of breaking the rules. It's a deviation of what is considered traditional or the "norm". No different than Oregon wearing uniform colors, other than black, that are different than the official school colors. You either like them or you don't. But I don't think it is something to get upset over.

I shouldn't have used "pissed off". Certain outsiders are frustrated, confused, disagreeable, disappointed, incredulous, tit ringered, about the red turf.

But there's no need for you to get upset that we didn't seek everyone's approval first.

Btw, I like oregon's uni's as well as GSU's. And the Duck's new gym is sweet too. Viva la differaaaaunce.

I'll bet the uproar if hockey allows the ice to be colored in anything but white.
