The UD ticket office sold just over 2,000 per anecdotal reports from people picking up tickets. Before anyone panics about that number, they should be reminded that UD's then-AD completely botched the entire allotment request for Chatty in 2007, leaving thousands without tickets, and left a very sour taste in the mouths of many fans. He is now thankfully gone, but with that memory still fresh, and with a convoluted process presented again this year with allocation by donation level, many UD fans bought their tickets directly from Pizza Hut Park out of fear of uncertainty and repeated incompetence. Very early in the process, a poster on GoHens got a single POC and his number down there at PHP and that guy accommodated a large volume of Delaware fans. The number of UD fans who went outside UD channels would be only speculation, but many believe it was at least the number that bought through the school. Based on that, I'd say 4-5K realistically for the total number of UD fans that will be there. Just reading GoHens, people are reporting their section and it sounds like Hens fans have the market cornered on sections 123-131. 127-131 appears to be the UD ticket office's allotment.kalm wrote:Todays Spokesman Review had an article on the upcoming game and reported that EWU has sold 1300 tickets and that a total of 10,000 tickets have been sold so far. Not sure if this includes allotments to the schools for faculty, coaches, and players, or any packages the stadium might be offering locally.

Current weather predictions are pretty good. 57 and Sunny. I don't think that can hurt attendance.

Remembering the 2007 fiasco I purchased outside the UD AD system and know a number of others who also did the same. StubHub was filled with the $40 section tickets at face value the day after AppState lost. Mine are sec 126. 5k may be a stretch but 4k UD fans is likely a good guess.93henfan wrote:The UD ticket office sold just over 2,000 per anecdotal reports from people picking up tickets. Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG
10,000 seats sold is certainly not a clunker. Let's face it, they're not going to get the crowds that Chatty did with ASU until a McNeese State or nearby team makes it. The crowds at Chatty when Appy, GSU, or a Virginia team weren't involved were typically in the 12K-14K range, and this game may still draw that when all is said and done. It really is a shame that they scheduled the Cotton Bowl the same night, because I think the casual interest from Texas football fans would be strong if their attention wasn't diverted that night. LSU-A&M is a sexy matchup.
Here's a local's direct comment in an article about the game: "I bet the Cotton Bowl is really going to hurt the attendance. Several thousand will opt to go to Arlington or stay home to watch aTm/LSU on TV. Otherwise, I think this thing would be packed. Maybe better planning next year." (very poorly written article, btw: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 98343.html)

Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG
As far as promotion in Frisco, a McNeese fan (old coach and one of our recruiting gurus) posted the following on the McNeese messageboard:
DocWell, Tom Burnett and crew have done a great job in marketing. My son was in one of the local malls two weeks ago and the SLC had a booth pushing tickets. I drove by a couple of high schools in Frisco in which the LED signs out front said FCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Jan. 7. The main street signs in Frisco all have signs up. It is just such bad timing , but they are managing to get stories in the paper discussing the game, so I hope if nothing else they are learning the ropes for next year. I don't know what side my tickets are on, but I suspect EWU will be the team that doesn't bring alot of people. Although, they certainly seem to be fired up.

Maybe they could promise the locals that they will have the Cotton Bowl up on the Jumbo Tron during the Pizza Hut Bowl in Frisco to increase attendance.89Hen wrote:Better planning next year? The NCAA are f'ing idiots for planning these 2 games at basically the same time. Having Texas A&M and LSU playing in it only makes matters worse.

I don't think its being driven by the NCAA. I think its ESPN driving the scheduling.TheBud wrote:Maybe they could promise the locals that they will have the Cotton Bowl up on the Jumbo Tron during the Pizza Hut Bowl in Frisco to increase attendance.89Hen wrote: Better planning next year? The NCAA knew the dates for the 2011 and 2012 Cotton Bowls and the FCS CG's when they chose Frisco. They made the call.danefan wrote:I don't think its being driven by the NCAA. I think its ESPN driving the scheduling.TheBud wrote:

Yes that is true. Especially considering the Cotton Bowl committee was a sponsor of the Frisco bid.89Hen wrote:The NCAA knew the dates for the 2011 and 2012 Cotton Bowls and the FCS CG's when they chose Frisco. They made the call.danefan wrote:

How many Texas State fans are going to make it to this game? It is only 256 miles from San Marcos to Frisco. You got a 4 ~ 5 hour trip planned?CatMom wrote:Friday weather update

Couldn't get the weekend off after I had a 3 day this past one. If I could get there in time, after work, I'd be there. I did put in for next year, though.TheBud wrote:How many Texas State fans are going to make it to this game? It is only 256 miles from San Marcos to Frisco. There are several that I know, personally, that are going. Same for MSU and SFA. Our beat reporter, Tyler Mayforth, is going. He's actually a UD alum.

Wait??? Catmom???? Are there still Texas St. fans interested in that FCS thingy?????
Seriously, I know there are a few McNeese fans going. And some of our athletic administration will be working at the game.

We're still FCS and part of the SLC. I assume TXST will have reps there also. And there are people like me who still like the playoffs, so, I suppose, the answer is yes.McNeese72 wrote:CatMom wrote: Couldn't get the weekend off after I had a 3 day this past one. I know alot are distracted by the coaching game but we'll have people there.
Re: Predict the attendance for the first Frisco NCG
I was wondering. There were a lot of Bobcan fans on the Bobcatfan.com messageboard (not you) that were expressing the sentiments of "good riddance" to both the SLC and the FCS after the WAC thing was announced.CatMom wrote:We're still FCS and part of the SLC.
