How was Valerie Plame "conducting partisan attacks on their policies"?

To your point, none of us know all the relevant details. However, unlike the Pollard and Manning cases, the issues are much less clear cut in the Plame affair. Reading the testimonies of the various participants creates more heat and confusion than light.

You do not like Bush/Cheney/Libby because they responded to mid-level bureaucrats who were actively conducting partisan attacks on their policies.

It is the professional bureaucrat's job to privately advise but in the end salute authority, not to undermine authority.

It is our job as citizens, and the job of elected officials - not the job of bureaucrats - to conduct partisan and public critiques and to publicly object to administration policies and their implementation.

Nate, did you know that according to Assange, he had never even heard the name Bradley Manning until it came out in the press? It wasn't like they met in some dark alley and traded 250K documents for cash. That would be the way certain American "journalists" get their info. Maybe we should assasinate the NYT?

I didn't want to start a new thread on this, but thought I might just add it here for grins and giggles.

I'm a fed employee (DoD) with a fed laptop. The guidance we've been given with regard to WikiLeaks is that if you visit it, you are accessing classified information and have compromised your computer and must face all the consequences of a security spillage.

Does anyone else see the irony here?

Yes.

But I can see where they are coming from. None of that info has been declassified yet, and some of it can be tied to other classified info that may not have been leaked.

1) The CIA doesn't think it was much ado about nothing, and their director says Plame was covert at the time she was exposed by her own chain of command. No telling how may people she talked to died as a result of her outing. Obviously you hate America and don't support our troops.

2) Bush/Cheney/Libby "responded" to mid-level bureaucrats who spoke truth to power. The hell of it is that the nonsense about Niger was never going to fly and Plame's husband saved the Bush administration even further embarrassment in their ham-fisted, albeit successful, attempt to stampede the American public into supporting the invasion of a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.

3) Your last sentence suggesting that it is bureaucrats job to parrot whatever nonsense comes from on high, regardless of how patently absurd, is a classic example of why we're in our current situation.

Assasinate Assange? For what? Playing an audio tape of a junior high girl's locker room?

C'mon, native...that is ridiculous. If we targeted every hacker and supporter of free speech we'd be too busy to catch the actual bad guys. :ohno:

On other thing...keep Assange alive for a while...at least until he releases the info on the banks. The real targets for assasination will be the clowns in the financial institutions. Then we can take out the crooked politicians and business folks who helped them.

Just think of all the work for the future univeristy sociologists. They'll be able to study the contrast between the poor minorities shooting each other for chump change and crack while the rich white guys shoot each other for millions and billions. :thumb:
Actually, the rich white guys have our poor minorities shoot other poor minorities for millions and billions. It's a pretty neat trick.

At least kalm attempts to be useful and relevant.

There are plenty of free speech heroes in the world and throughout history. Julian Assange is not one of them.

Assange is a self-absorbed, narcissistic criminal.

Fortunately for the commies, anarchists, and other assorted nuts, the Constitution still reigns, despite their best efforts.

It protects idiots as well savants, paupers as well as princes, criminals and layabouts as well as productive law-abiding citizens.
