http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/n ... id=5981629" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Tom Cable is unlikely to return as the Oakland Raiders' head coach in 2011, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
The Raiders finished 8-8 this season despite being undefeated in the AFC West. It was their first unblemished mark in the division since 1976, but Cable has fluctuated between starting quarterbacks and Oakland has lost four of six since a three-game winning streak put them on the cusp of the playoff picture in Week 10.
The Raiders are the first team since the 1970 merger to go unbeaten in the division and not make the playoffs.
Cable took over as the interim coach for Lane Kiffin midway through the 2008 season and was given the permanent job in Feb. 2009.
Oakland has had five coaches since 2003.

Can the NFL fire an owner?
Seriously how stupid can Al Davis be? The Raiders finally show some glimmers of hope and he is going to fire another coach...

If the Minnesota Vikings had not jumped ship to the NFL at the last minute, Al Davis and the Raiders might never have been.

What a joke. The old man desperately wants a Super Bowl before he dies, and he is the reason it has 0% chance of happening

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

It's official Cable is done, Al Davis and his reign of terror continues. Feel bad for my dad and brother, both lifelong Raider fans and they have no hope until Davis kicks the bucket.

Yeah, I wish. Bad move by Al. DAMNIT!
Re: Can the NFL fire an owner?
Fisher is one of the most overrated coaches in the NFL. In 17 years (16 full years) he has 6...yep a whopping SIX...winning seasons.catamount man wrote:Welcome to Oakland, Jeff Fisher.FargoBison wrote:It's official Cable is done, Al Davis and his reign of terror continues. Yeah, I wish. Bad move by Al. DAMNIT!
6 seasons with an over .500 record
5 seasons of a .500 record
5 seasons below .500
His interim season was 1-5
4 division titles in 16 full seasons
a sub .500 playoff record of 5-6. 3 of his playoff wins came in one season
He is/was saved by the fact that Bud Adams is/was extremely loyal to him

The best choice would be to promote the Special Teams Coordinator to HC.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
