Sounds like a nice list of sexy preseason picks, but as always preseason picks are worthless.

Who here had EWU, UD and GSU in their top five in August 2010?

Its about 8 months until kick-off. What else are we going to talk about until then if not pre-season picks?

As for the question itself, I have no idea, as I haven't really followed who everyone has coming back.

Oh I know, I know. These threads always follow the same pattern, usually like so:

First post: Fan of a young, overachieving team that fell short in the semis and is rightfully pumped about the following season makes brash preseason pick that includes his team in top 5.

Second post: Heartbroken fan of team that choked in national championship makes cynical post about preseason picks.

Third post: Heartbroken fan of team that choked in semifinals makes cynical post about preseason picks.

Fourth post: Another fan of same school that is less cynical says "oh what the hell - what were we going to discuss anyway?"

Fifth post: Second post guy identifies pattern of annual preseason thread.

I'd love to be able to say with confidence UNI should be there. UNI returns everyone but the center and a TE from one of the best offenses in the nation.

On defense UNI returns everyone except a back up DL and a linebacker (granted he was a HUGE part of the defense)

I think UNI has something like 30-40 players who saw extended playing time this year returning.

However, I can't do it. It's UNI, something will go wrong.

Wofford could be top 5, it depends on how well our offense recovers from losing 3 or 4 starters on OL. We bring back our top rusher, receiver, and starting QB, as well as 9/11 of our defense. There is a rumor floating around about a transfer coming in from a player who pulled out on Wofford at the last second a couple years ago, if said rumor is true I think our offense should improve tremendously

I would give NDSU the nod over UNI in the top 5. UNI top 15, Indiana State top 25, YSU and SDSU around Top 30-35.

Nova will be without Ijalana, Whitney and Szczur, and I'm sure others, but those three are huge losses. Delaware will be without 7 starters on defense, and of course Devlin under center, also huge losses.

Yes, it's technically 2 TE's and a center.

One TE was a WR that lined up at TE due to mismatches he could create with his height/speed (6'7) the other was a FB/guard that never really ever touched the ball. If he was in the game it was a run or a deep pass and he was there for blocking.

Either way last year we had no returners on the offensive line, lost our QB, and 2 of our top WR, and we still had a pretty damn good offense

This year we bring back 4 offensive lineman (who have had time to grow and gel together), one of the most dynamic QB's in the nation, one of the top 2 returning RB's in the conference, and some of the most explosive WR in the conference. The problem is last year they imploded more than they exploded. Hopefully having a year together will be great for next year.

Add to that the way the players rotated in an out last year, there is probably close to 30-40 players who saw a ton of PT last year.

Still, it's UNI and something will go wrong.
