I'm not talking about 51%. I'm talking about big ticket differences like on the healthcare bill. I'm talking about SB1070 and immigration.

And if you truly believe in your last statement, then Obama is fucked.
Look at the polls just before passage.... while some (Rasmussen, CNN) had results of more than 55% opposing... most polls didnt have a majority opposed to the legislation....

1) How about 200 yards? Hell, I dunno. Far enough away that Congressmen and 9 year old girls don't get shot, I guess.
Guns have been illegal in Washington DC and Chicago...that hasn't prevented criminals (like the wacko in Arizona) from killing people... so what you want to do is keep law-abiding people from exercising their rights...Good left-wing position...

As if not owning a gun makes you un-American somehow.
Again...just come out and say it...you want to ban all legal gun ownership....don't be ashamed of your left-wing positions....just be honest...

So if there's a political event next door to your home at your neighbors (ie a political fundraiser), and you had have guns in your home, to KY you would bn would be in violation of the law.

So if there's a political event lets say at a shopping plaza in front of a grocery store like yesterday, and you have a business next to that shopping center, and you carry a gun for protection, to KY that you would be in violation of the law.

So if there's some political rally going on, you have a CCW permit and are carrying, and you happen to be walking by (not sure what the rally is about) to KY that you would be in violation of the law.

How many existing gun laws did the shooter break when he took out that 9 year old girl and the congresswoman? Adding more gun law/regulations/restrictions would not have stopped this attack. :twocents:

Seriously though, good for him.
should people be allowed to carry weapons in public? That depends. A holstered handgun carried by a legally licensed carrier is probably fine.

But there is no place in society for things like this...

I see what looks two assult rifles, a .12 gauge, and what appears to be a .22. All of which are legal. A carry permit is not required for a .12 or a .22, the others I don't know about. Heck, there are hand guns that shoot much more dangerous ammunition that that gun in the last picture.

If it is legal for a shotgun to be carried why not? They certainly can't hide they are carrying it, and it will take much longer to get to an aiming position, and move from target to target than a hand gun would.

"Banning" guns won't work. It would drive this underground and make the gun world even more dangerous than the drug world. Why shouldn't people who have shown they can legally carry a gun be allowed to?

It should be a free-for-all like in the Middle East.......that is the road that this cuntry is heading down anyway. Between religious quacks and gun violence.......we're perilously close to being the Christian version of Iraq/Iran/etc.

I don't see a single assault rifle, unless one of those is full auto.

Well then 200 yards is not nearly far enough. Hell, I'm a pretty pitiful shot, and with the right gun I could get a good shot in from 200 yards. Just saying.

I don't think not owning a gun makes you unAmerican, but I don't want to give up the ones I own. I like shooting them, and also enjoy hunting with them. It's just a part of my family tradition and my identity. Sort of like going to a football game at Old FU.

I also think that if I were a politician I'd want a bunch of my guys hanging around my events packing heat. Might deter that one guy from pulling his piece on me if he know thirty of forty odd marksmen were gonna be bearing down on him in a split second.

If there is a legitmate reason to believe that a person is unstable then that person should not be allowed to have a gun. Apparently, this guy was rejected by the military (don't know why, but they probably realized that he was in a world of shit) and was such a distraction in school that he was told not to come back with out a note from a doctor affirming his stability.

I think the NBC news said the only restrictions in AZ are that he didn't have a criminal record so he was ok'ed for a legal gun sale. With the possibility of the Fed gov taking over the healthcare system, do we want Fed funded doctors with the power to determine who is fit and unfit to exercise their constitutional right to own a firearm?

the Army rejected him because he failed a drug test.

But his high school reportedly wanted to do a mental evaluation on him

Treason is NEVER justified. :ohno:
You are EXACTLY right, skelly, but your side will not allow the Constitution to work. We have a whole sh!tload of politicians - mostly Dems but plenty of Repubs - who have persistently used extra-Constitutional means to achieve unconstitutional ends.

Erosion of and lack of respect for the Constitution - not free speech - is the overriding fundamental problem in public discourse.

NO!

I'm sure our elected "leadership" recieve many threats, but rarely are any of them carried out. The fact that one nut case carried his plan out does not mean we need to send in a team of Secret Service agents prior to town hall meetings. Give this a few days, the Jersey Shore kids will do something stupid and this will be forgotten.

Gun regulations would not have prevented this. As long as you deny something to someone, there will always be an illegal avenue of procurement. If it's responsibly regulated, you have better chances at having success. Sure, people go crazy but you can't go changing the system for the acts of a few. :twocents:

And if several people in that crowd had been carrying concealed, he likely wouldn't have gotten off 31 rounds. If it had been a Republican Congressman, odds are there would have been a # of supporters in close proximity who were carrying.

So you are saying he would not have been able to get a magazine that held 31 bullets if they were "illegal" in AZ?

Tell me how making it illegal has worked for keeping people from buying anything illegal? Has that worked for any illicite drugs? Did it work for booze? Has it worked for buying/selling of animals or people?

The only thing it "being illegal" would have done is added another charge to the one he is facing.
