For 17 years, but I was a cop. I only carried off duty when I knew I was not going to be drinking, and I also knew I would be down in the historic district in Charleston (that's where a lot of armed robberyies against tourists occur).

I used it about three times that I can recall, but the display of the gun itself was enough to effect an arrest. Never had to fire it off duty.

off and on for 10 years...I took a few years to get a VA permit after moving from Texas...

I now have a VA and NH permit, which allows me to carry in 35 states...

Have never shown my weapon in public...and have never used my fire extinguisher either...
