Bottom line is that Palin is not only polarizing, she is simply a mean bitch.

This whole event has been an event in itself just right here on CS.Com Political board.

Look at the partisans here parroting Limbaugh, Beck, and Fox News by trying to personally assail other posters who have criticized her for her actions and choice of words leading up to this. :ohno: :ohno:

I ain't blaming her, but if she feels victimized, or defiant, or angry over this backlash, I don't feel sorry for her either, she earned it.

Mean, nasty, selfish, and arguably stupid as she is, I still think she is the best candidate the Repubs have right now.

Go Palin 212!!

Well, after the Right turns off Beck and Hannity... they switch over to see their TiVo'd Maddow and Olbermann

But it's a whole other matter to take a poorly worded phrase and try to attach a whole host of other meanings to it, as KY is doing here. Seriously, what is the left's maniacal fascination with this woman? From the initial blaming of her and her crosshair map for this tragedy (largely proven to be false as the whacko who committed this tragedy may not even have known a thing about Palin) to now accusing her of in a twisted way being anti-Semitic (which she may be, who knows, but you can't tell from this) is just really sad and silly. She's not going to be the Republican nominee - let it go. She's going to be involved and she may be a king-maker of sorts, but she won't be on the ticket. There are plenty of other things worth worrying about in this world than trumped up ideas of how evil Sarah Palin is. Just saying.
+1...can't stand the woman, but giving her too much credit to be that devious....

BTW Skelly...you do realize that the dems used crosshairs on maps for congressional districts that might be in play come election time as well, don't you? Let's not overreact & try to keep our eye on the ball....a wacko killed some people while trying to assasinate a congresswoman...let's not blame Palin for that anymore than we blame the dems for the Squeaky Fromme assasination attempt on Ford....
I blame Democrats for World War II.

Seriously, if you are going to stretch, blame them for WWII. Wilson included zero Republicans when it came time to draft a treaty. Also, you can blame them for the appeasement of Hitler and the Japanese. (I leave out Harding, Coolidge and Hoover b/c hey, every far reaching idea has to have a bias, right?)

Florida college football teams don't rebuild, they reload. So you can blame any shooting deaths in Florida on the Gators, Seminoles and Hurricanes.

Your point about Wilson is spot on! Typical ivory tower academic.

However, I do not blame any Americans for WWI or WWII. I do blame F.D. Roosevelt for a just-in-time response that cost a far greater number of lives than it should have, and for turning a blind eye to the communists, but we must not let the isolationist Republicans off the hook, either. This is the reason I cannot go whole-hog libertarian in support of Ron Paul's entire agenda.

I'm just being honest with ya, JD. I do not own a TiVO and I never watch more than a few second of Olbermann of Maddow, or listen to more than a few minutes of Rush. Did I ever start an Olbermann thread? Can't recall.

If you say that you do not listen to Rush, I believe you. Why would I not? You are may sometimes be stubborn and one-sided, but not irrational or malicious like so many of your leftie buddies. I enjoy your thoughts when you calm down and get a little serious.

My favorite current events activities are to read the articles and analyses from Real Clear Politics, Sabato's Crystal Ball, Pew, and Rasmussen.

As for TV, I spend more time on CNBC than FNC. The wheels have fallen off of MSNBC, which I avoid, but I also enjoy comparing Fox and CNN coverage of events.

I was thinking the same thing. You'll probably get quite a few more hits if you search Rush, and I'd be willing to bet most of them are from donks, as aluded to earlier.

Rush and Beck are kinda like Michael Jackson. No one admits to being a fan yet they're wildly popular and their talking points keep popping up all over the place. :thumb:

Hey, I'm only as suborn as the rest on this board when I know I'm right

No doubt Native, but do you see the irrationality behind Hens post, to lump an entire group into one pool? I was simply trying to pull a "Ralph" and spin it back in your direction. I can't name the countless times that a post will pop up in the morning or afternoon by one of the resident Conservative posters about something stupid the liberals did, only to do a little google research to get more info on the topic only to find out it was the topic of the latest Rush, Hannity or Beck rant.

I don't honestly believe the majority of Liberals tune in to watch any of the FoxNews anchors... I believe they just wait for one of the superhero MSNBC commentators to rail on one of Foxs' stories before they bring up Beck, Limbaugh or Hannity. ;)

I'm not implying she's a victim. Unjustly accused is certainly moving it toward victim-hood. She has shown the light on herself and scrutiny is fair game with that but manufacturing **** ups with her is not even close to necessary. :)
It's not just Sarah Palin. It is 30-40% of the electorate that has been falsely and maliciously accused.

Obviously they are popular. I have friends that listen to them. I listen to sports talk radio in my car every morning and evening commute. When in Mrs89's vehicle, I listen to music if the family is in the car or rawdog comedy if I'm alone.

I get enough extremist talk here. ;)

Words, Deeds, and Political Insinuations

Post by native »

David Warren writes,

"...The advantage of insinuations over hard arguments is that they bypass critical thought. No one can respond precisely to a charge that is utterly vague or to accusers who will envelope any reply in a poisonous fog of further insinuations. The best that can be said is that the accusations in question here were fatuous. ..."

It could be coincidence, but the similarity of the spin and, as JMU DJ noted, the timing is striking to say the least.

Could? It is CURRENT events. As in stuff that is currently happening. Timing isn't even coincidental, it's natural. As for the similarity... it's common sense to know that a conservative talker is going to hit conservative points because conservatives will agree with it.

This would be akin to me complaining about a bad 4th down spot on Friday night, soon after KC Keeler complained about the same spot. It was a current event, we're both UD alums, we were both pissed. Yet my spin was the exact same as his even though we had the thoughts independently. ;)

Well duhhh. I'm not talking about a million conks all simultaneously coming to the conclusion that Obama is bad m'kay? It's the subtle connect the dots theories that are the most precious. And btw, this thread is a very good example from the left of the same thing. So I guess both sides do it, it's just that Rush, Beck, and the like should be admired for doing it much much better.
