Could? It is CURRENT events. As in stuff that is currently happening. Timing isn't even coincidental, it's natural. As for the similarity... it's common sense to know that a conservative talker is going to hit conservative points because conservatives will agree with it.

This would be akin to me complaining about a bad 4th down spot on Friday night, soon after KC Keeler complained about the same spot. It was a current event, we're both UD alums, we were both pissed. Yet my spin was the exact same as his even though we had the thoughts independently. ;)
Oh, and if Keeler had accepted the inevitable with a little more grace I bet you wouldn't have had near as much frothing at the mouth. ;)

So Mrs. Palin pissed off a few liberals, huh? Good... perhaps the liberals can explain the direct quotes below while on the subject of "hate speech" and "incindary comments."

“Rush Limbaugh is beginning to look more and more like Mr. Big, and at some point somebody’s going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he’s going to explode like a giant blimp. That day may come. Not yet, but we’ll be there to watch.” -- Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s Morning Meeting, Oct. 13, 2009.

“So, Michele, slit your wrist! Go ahead! I mean, you know, why not? I mean, if you want to -- or, you know, do us all a better thing. Move that knife up about two feet. I mean, start right at the collarbone.” -- Montel Williams talking about Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) on Air America’s Montel Across America, Sept. 2, 2009.

“He is an enemy of the country, in my opinion, Dick Cheney is, he is an enemy of the country.... You know, Lord, take him to the Promised Land, will you? See, I don’t even wish the guy goes to Hell, I just want to get him the hell out of here.” -- Ed Schultz, The Ed Schultz Show, May 11, 2009.

“I’m waiting for the day when I pick it up, pick up a newspaper or click on the Internet and find out he’s choked to death on his own throat fat or a great big wad of saliva or something, you know, whatever. Go away, Rush, you make me sick!” -- Radio host Mike Malloy on the Jan. 4, 2010 Mike Malloy Show.

“I’m just saying if he [Dick Cheney] did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.” -- Bill Maher on his HBO show Real Time, Mar. 2, 2007,

After then-Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.) said that the federal government was spending too much money on AIDS, National Public Radio’s Nina Totenberg, on the July 8, 1995 edition of Inside Washington, said, “I think he ought to be worried about what’s going on in the Good Lord’s mind, because if there is retributive justice, he’ll get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it.”

On the Nov. 4, 1994 edition of PBS’s To the Contrary, then-USA Today columnist and Pacifica Radio talk show host Julianne Malveaux said of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas: “I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease. … He is an absolutely reprehensible person.”

Throughout history Jews were scapegoats. With teh Lib/socialists and the shooting story Palin is a scapegoat. “Blood libel” works for both.

I agree, although I think the smart thing would have been for her to say nothing at all. By responding she lowers herself into the fray.
Palin isn't very good at not responding.

Typical repsonse, and exactly the reason we are in this mess right now. The other guy did it, so it's okay if I do it. Neither side is interested in elevating the discussion. As pointed out earlier, it's a race to the bottom. We should hold our politcians accountable instead of making excuses for them.

That's our fault as a collective. They wouldn't be perpetrating this on us if we weren't giving them the ratings they are looking for but we seem to enjoy the vapid nature of it all.

Our immunity to rational discussions is very strong and I know that a message board is not a good example but just look at the roles we all play on here. There are hundreds of finger pointing sessions in the threads on here but you couldn't find 5 or 6 rational discussions on anything political.

You have the sense to turn it off. The MSM sets the narrative. Unfortunately, the less than intelligent, boogereaters, and mouthbreathers accept it as gospel no matter how wrong it is.

I disagree, Ursus. You have had rational discussions with Gannon Fan and kalm. TTBF and Death Dealer have had rational discussions. CID nails it quite often. I have had lots more than a half dozen rational discussions with you, BlueHen86 and Appaholic in the last three months alone. And on and on...

The majority of posters make some valid posts and participate with reasonable good faith.

Leave out about a half dozen donks and a coupla conks and the majority of threads and posts on this board are both rational and fruitful. ...and that doesn't mean that everyone has to agree all the time.

"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

No we don't disagree on this. I was referring to the fact that even when a conversation starts off productive it goes the way of the monkey shit throwing contest. It just happens.

Cleets and I come from pretty different mindsets and we disagree about 1/2 the time on the board but some of the best conversations I've ever had in person with someone are with him. When there is just discussion and a little give & take it always provides the stage for good conversation. That doesn't happen on boards though because there is not a lot of digesting the other teams point. It's not the place for it nor is the board a great example as I said earlier. That's not what it's about or what we have made it. :thumb:

None of the people I quoted is an elected official, nor do they serve the public interest in any way, shape, or form. They are the pundits and media members who will state with a straight face that they are "journalists" and are non partisan. Yet they slam conservatives like Sarah Palin (who is not an elected official), Rep. Bachmann, or Justice Thomas as I have demonstrated above but will NEVER, EVER, EVER hold themselves or any other liberal accountable.

They are hypocrites of the first order and deserve our collective scorn. These are the same types who attempted to steer the national discussion of a tragedy into a LIE about "hate speech" from those with whom they disagree idelogically. They are lower than whale shit.

Seems applicable to this thread so looking at Jon Stewart's appearance on Crossfire is a good reference.

Yeah, the show named Crossfire. If you really believe in all that shit about crosshairs and so forth then this is a show that should have been dismantled on name alone.
