Dude blew out his ACL making a tackle on an interception, and the team just tanked after that, losing six of nine to finish 5-7.

Houston QB gets 6th year

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

The kid is awesome to watch. Interesting that he'd want to stay in college, though.

There's something to be said for the environment. There's also something to be said for the degree.CatMom wrote:The kid is awesome to watch. Interesting that he'd want to stay in college, though.

He has to have at least a bachelor's in 5 years, wouldn't you think? All our guys that were redshirted, their freshman year, have graduated or will do so in May. Graduate school, I would assume.SuperHornet wrote:There's something to be said for the environment. There's also something to be said for the degree.CatMom wrote:The kid is awesome to watch. His injuries may have something to do with that, but odds are you're right. I just hope he doesn't pull a Leinart to do it....CatMom wrote:He has to have at least a bachelor's in 5 years, wouldn't you think? Re: Houston QB gets 6th year
Could be. But according to the article, he didn't expect the NCAA to grant the request and was therefore preparing for the draft. Remember that he's coming off a concussion and an ACL tear. The team has no idea when he'll be ready to play again.youngterrier wrote:he's probably doing it so he can break a record

Re: Houston QB gets 6th year
Interesting development. He would likely have (as most of our srs) graduated in December and classes started back this week. I would assume it is too late to enroll for this semester? Not positive there. If so, he'd be ineligible for spring drills and would have to wait until the summer semester to re-enroll. I'm on the cougar forum...I'll go over there tomorrow and have a look-see on what they are saying/think.
Bush tore his ACL (actually all 3 knee ligaments) 5 games in, in 2009, and was doing light work-outs by spring.

Re: Houston QB gets 6th year
I was redshirted and I didn't graduate until May of my 5th year. As the majority of my teammates, that actually did graduate. And even if he did graduate and had decided to comeback, it is likely that he registered for graduate classes before winter break.CatMom wrote:Interesting development. Re: Houston QB gets 6th year
Seems he graduated in December and he was not anticipating the NCAA giving him his 6th year and was prepping for NFL pro days, etc. He's going to apply to grad school..now, I presume. I would have thought it too late to do so but I guess not.andy7171 wrote:I was redshirted and I didn't graduate until May of my 5th year. As the majority of my teammates, that actually did graduate.
