2011 Missouri Valley Football Conference Off-Season Thread
Re: 2011 Missouri Valley Football Conference Off-Season Thre
Let's try reverse psychology...
Missouri State will finish dead last and go winless. We will lose 40 players to injury between playing @ Oregon and @ Arkansas.

NDSU and UNI are the obvious choices based on 2010 and what they have coming back. It's a little bit of a crapshoot after that so I went with YSU because I think they might be building something good there. Next possibility was SIU but I wonder if they're slowly going backwards without Kill and his recruits. WIU has a history of coming out of nowhere and shocking the conference and then disappearing again and I think that will happen again next year with the loss of Barr (and I really wish they would step back up on a more regular basis because I grew up 45 minutes from Macomb and I would love to see the UNI/WIU rivalry really heat up). In St is promising and I hope they do well but I have to see a little more to put their name in the top 3. SDSU loses too much @ QB. Ill St and Mo St always have potential but seem to disappoint.

Yeah. He was #45.TheHerd wrote:Hey Clenz, is Jamar Thompson that small LB you guys had? I think he went about 210Lbs, but he is a hell of a player if that is him.
He looked more like a safety. Heck, he played LB at first, switched to safety for a year, then back to LB.
He was really a hybrid type player.

That dude plays way bigger than he is.......he was in the back field against us more than our RB's! I pretty sure I won't miss him.clenz wrote:Yeah. It only seems that way, bro. There are actually a few seniors left on the team who can vaguely remember losing a game to UNI. I was pretty surprised we won this year given the injury situation, but I think your brother knew it would happen, that's why he didn't make the trip.....D1B wrote:No argument here Dawg, UNI sucks. Astute. There is no doubt we would have been down from before even without the injury epidemic. Our biggest loss from the Kill era was strength and conditioning coach Eric Klein. Watch and see if the players Kill inherited aren't stronger and faster next season.UNI88 wrote:NDSU and UNI are the obvious choices based on 2010 and what they have coming back. How's everyone stack up on the recruiting front?
YSU has offered 81 players.
YSU has 12 commitments.

Lay off Brother Houndawg, fellas. Dude's righteous as fvck - an SIU and a UNI fan. Cool guy.
Plus, he sent me some KILLER green last year!!! Gave it all to D1B, who, afterward, missed 11 days of work.

Re: 2011 Missouri Valley Football Conference Off-Season Thre
I believe the Bison have ten commitments right now. We got a nice QB recruit out of Bismarck, North Dakota Carson Wentz. According to reports he was offered by NDSU, SDSU, UND, Southern Illinois and Central Michigan. Carson stated that Central Michigan was scheduled to visit him in Bismarck the following week, but he called it off and stated he committed to NDSU. Wentz is 6'5' 208lbs and moves really well, throws extremely accurate on the run and has good speed for his size. I really think he is gonna be a good one. We have also got 3 nice recruits out of AZ, one of them was a head to head recruiting battle with Montana and NAU, so our class is really looking nice so far, although we need a few more OL commitments in my opinion, only one so far as far as I know. We did lose out on a DE out of MN, Wyatt feifer I think is the name, to UNI, but we also got a commit that UNI offered cannot recall name right now though. How about the rest of the Valley, how is recruiting going??guinzone wrote:How's everyone stack up on the recruiting front?

I find it interesting you guys recruit Arizona hard.
The way it stacks up right now, about 65% of our offers are for those in Ohio, 25% in Florida, and then 10% for the remaining 48 states.

We really just started recruiting AZ the last few years, due to a former player bieng from there and having a lot of connections. I believe he is on our staff and has really opened up AZ to us.guinzone wrote:I find it interesting you guys recruit Arizona hard.

UNI, NDSU and SIU in that order. It's hard for me to believe SIU will be down again
Re: 2011 Missouri Valley Football Conference Off-Season Thre
Im not sure how you can say that? Of course is SIU is back Im sure all will be well with the conference too. The disappointing slid SIU finds itself in would depress my opinion of the conference too if I were an SIU fan.houndawg wrote:The MVC will be back next season!
FBS Coaching hopeful Dale Lennon may be showing his weakness as an FCS coach. A lot of D2 coaches dont make the transition. Lennon was a good, not great D2 coach, that had a great run of luck. HIs playoff record was not stellar but he had winning teams. He didn't field dominating teams, but got by on the big play and good call. Time will tell if he can make the transition.
NDSU continues to recruit like a MAC or WAC school but Kill has started to follow them around. It seems on the recruiting trail wherever you find NDSU you find Kill and UNI.

Re: 2011 Missouri Valley Football Conference Off-Season Thre
there were no dominant teams in the MVC this season. NDSU and UNI both return a lot and should be better. SIU was injured and will likely be better next season. Indiana St. YSU, MSU are all on the uprise. SDSU shouldnt be any worse, they played a tough schedule this season. ISU Red will be the same maybe even better and return a good QB. WIU prolly wont be as good but they will be competitive. Last years MVC was pretty young. I see a lot of potential in this conference. It could possibly disappoint but I doubt it. MVC will be better next season.JBB wrote:Im not sure how you can say that? Of course is SIU is back Im sure all will be well with the conference too. DL just got done beating UNI three years in a row, he's already is a solid FCS coach.
There is a coach from a D2 school in the Dakotas who is struggling with the step up, but it ain't Dale Lennon.

Beat me to it. Not even going to try to get my hopes up about finally turning it around. Especially this year with Oregon and Arkansas on the schedule.MSUBear42 wrote:Let's try reverse psychology...

Easy for you to say. But then again that same NDSU team beat the cellar-dweller's from Youngstown on a hail mary with 40 seconds left. That is not to dis on NDSU, it is to dis on the YSU defense that blew FOUR leads with 2 minutes left this year, three of those were against our playoff representatives!lakesbison wrote:If the ndsu team that played at Montana, ewu returns, I can't see anyone beating us in the mvfc.
