You got something out of the story that I did not I guess. They gave his troubles on tour the once over as they should have. They talked about his trouble or reasons for it at the Masters. They also didn't say that he was great under pressure but just that when he was playing in Canada and in leisure games he did some pretty spectacular things.

It was pretty clear to me that when the pressure was on he struggled. That didn't take away from the rest of the story though.

I was listening to the story thinking that this was a Sidd Finch deal. Never heard of the guy.

That bartender did spin a great telling of the story. Some smart guy would build a great sitcom around that actor playing a bartender.

No doubt. It would be kick ass and inexpensive cuz you'd only have to have a few key scenes shots during the telling of any story with the bulk of the show being one set and one actor. Bartenders always have a story to go with whatever you are talking about so the well seems plausibly deep for one guy to have hundreds of tales also.

First off, let me reiterate, he had a gift and was a great golfer, but c'mon... Claims of multiple balls being hit a copule hundred yards and coming to rest against each other, claims that he was somehow better than Tiger Woods, hitting a ball across a bridge over a creek on a drive, calling a hole in one before it goes in because he doesn't want to putt anymore.... what is this, Happy Gilmore?

I've been around golf my whole life and have met many characters. One guy used to yell "Get in the hole" on EVERY SINGLE shot he ever hit. One day, I'm sure he knocked in one from a distance ergo "called the shot".

I knew a guy who used to try to drive it over a wide concrete bridge on a creek that was 260ish carry (this was back with wooden clubs and soft balls)... he made it one out of every ten tries.

I don't disbelieve it yet. I'm waiting for the evidence against for that considering that there seems to be some validity to the other stories.

He did some incredible things apparently. I assume the incredible # of hole in ones were achieved through the normal channels of golf etiquette and so forth and that ESPN had enough faith in the sources to do some work on it.

I'm willing to go along with it because there are probably a lot of verifiable things that are on the level of that one.
