Conk NH Straw Poll

Post by kalm »

It will probably come down to Pawlenty, Daniels, and Romney. Sorry tea baggers the establishment will win again.

So who ya got?
While no one has declared their presidential campaign yet, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney emerged as the winner Saturday of a New Hampshire Republican straw poll that aimed to gauge what kind of support early contenders have among the party faithful.

Romney is in line to be a God of his own planet and population out in the galaxy somewhere, someday. Seem's like a short gig as POTUS should be a no brainer for a saint like him.

In a nutshell why Romney won't ever be President, or even seriously evaluated to be one - pure and simple bigotry of Mormons. He may not be the right man for the job, but most will never get past bigoted ideas like the above to even consider him on his merits, or lack thereof. :ohno:

Twas my point exactly, how is a guy who tithes millions of dollars a year to the LDS church, going to ever be taken seriously in a Presidential race?

:thumb:

Oh, I almost forgot, this here cult stuff is probably small potatoes to the fact that Romney is a big a phony as say.. John Edwards. Check out his past statements about abortion (remembering he is a Mormon) and hunting/gun rights.

How much does geography skew this poll? MA is right next to NH... and if Daniels is truly a contender, he did pretty poorly in this poll, as well as other potential top candidates, getting beat out by Palin.

I wouldn't mind seeing any of those three get the nod, but Romney is vulnerable because of "Romneycare" as well as his religion. The poll understates Huckabee's underlying strength nationally, which isn't surprising in his weakest region. Palin will implode for various reasons over the next 6 to 12 months. 8-) Gingrich is old hat and too much baggage. Speaking of old hat, Giuliani's considering another run!

Having had T Paw for Governor in Minnesota, he isn't too bad, but I just don't see him as presidential matierial, maybe his role would be as a VP. TT and the local Donks called him an obstructionist to the Donk legislature, just as the local Conks will be Saying the same about Dayton and the Conk legislature. I haven't seen anyone on either side that I would vote for at this point.

I do what I can. I don't think religion is something that deserves special exemption from criticism. I look at the choices someone makes, like that if they don't wear their magical underwear they will be unprotected from temptation and evil. Then I think, would I want someone crazy enough to buy into this shit making important policy decisions that could affect my life?

You can be a religious person that buys into whatever nonsense you want, but that doesn't mean I can't hold it against you when it comes time for me to vote.

Just the same as most American's would probably not vote for an atheist running for president. Bigots. :ohno:

Too bad the religious views of politicians can become more newsworthy than their views on government.

Would you have the same view if a member of the Westboro Baptist Church or the Aryan Nations Church ran for office?
I'll disagree with Chizzang in that politics and religion are almost inseperable. They are both manifestations of one's world view and shape a person's decision making.

The Westboro Baptist Church and Aryan Nations Church don't have a view of government that I agree with. But they have every right to send a candidate to the populace for a vote.

Wait a second. That's a totally different scenario. If we make fun of his religion they're likely to bomb us or slit our throats!

I like Ron Paul quite a bit and would probably vote for him over someone from either party. But he won't be given a chance because of corporate governmental capture. Too many large and powerful companies would suffer at the hands of transparency and the the free market.

Absolutely. He's by far the most conservative candidate out there. He should win the nomination hands down. He's received enough attention to be on the voter's radar. Why do you think he won't?
