It was the stump speech I expected. The last part with the Chilean miner rescue hero however was completely stupid.

It would have been an awful short speech if December hadn't happened. 90%of the speech rehashed everything they accomplished in the last 45 days.

Anyone can give a great, powerful speech.
The issue is, are our elected officials going to comprimise, work alongside thier fellow congressman/woman and get the job done. We have to make sacrifices and it will hurt, but we have to get on track. It was astonishing to hear that the Interior Dept handles Salmon whilst in freshwater, but Commerce handles them while in saltwater. Government efficiency must be improved, the tax code must be improved, the Defense budget must be streamlined and more cost effective.

But, will our politicians do anything about it?

Salmon in freshwater, at least in the lower 48, are not harvested for commercial use except for Indian Tribes. So it makes sense for Interior to manage the fisheries as the rivers are public and the public the lands they flow through are also important to their survival.

Of course there's redundancy, but some of it makes sense when you delve a little deeper. In general, most people drastically underestimate how large and complicated our nation is.

Yahoo ^ | 1/26/11 | Martinne Geller, Dhanya Skariachan - Reuters

(Reuters) – Lowe's Cos Inc is laying off about 1,700 middle managers across the United States, the country's second-largest home-improvement chain said.

The news comes as home improvement chains focus on cutting costs to tackle tepid demand for expensive renovations in a slowly recovering. U.S. economy.

And yet, I think I remember much of the stuff in Obama's speech being very similar to Bush's. I hope somebody does some sort of youtube compilation of the key parts of speeches from the last 20 yrs.

Not to say I didn't like Obama's speech cuz it was good but it was as shallow as all the others. I think Bush even talked about the move to electric cars and lessening the dependence on oil and so forth.

Bush's speeches were as good as Obama's due to their common "feel good" type of style as it is supposed to be.

They can't hold a candle to Reagan & Clinton though.

I can see how a entitled, bloodsucking, elite prick like you who has never built anything, produced anything, ever saved anyone or anythings life could look down your thin patrician conk nose at someone who did. Just because a politician and political party you hate singled him out for praise. Fuck you 89 Hen and everyone who thinks like you.
