The fact that FNMA and FHLMC still exist and the "financial reform bill" is named after their two biggest proponents Frank and Dodd is proof enough. "Change" has gotten us the most unreasonable underwriting requirements EVER in mortgage lending, a credit crunch unprecendented in our lifetimes, real estate values- my home (including the lot and pool) in a very good neighborhood is worth about half what it was 3 years ago and about $70k less than what it would cost to rebuild it- and the true value (adjusted for inflation) of my retirement portfolio is worth about what it was 12 years ago despite over $100k of contributions. My cost of living has risen under Obama due to increases in my health insurance premiums (thanks Obamacare) and the regulatory environment and tax structure for a business owner has gotten much worse.

He and Reid can't be voted out fast enough for me.
So live in your house instead of trying to sell it in a down market.
Oh I will... I intend on paying both houses off and splitting time between the two in later years.

Nevertheless, the two biggest investments an average person or family in our country has- their home and 401-k- have lost about 10 years worth of value/appreciation under the Pelosi/Reid legislative branch while government has grown and spent at unprecendented rates.

The last five years has seen the largest transfer of wealth and power away from the individual and to the government in the history of the country. It has also seen the largest level of government borrowing and spending in the history of the country. I don't know how anybody can contend that is a good thing.

401k? What's that?

Your home value was artificially high during the bubble, and since you're not selling it doesn't matter, so just wait, it will be back up. The transfer of wealth you refer to doesn't seem to be affecting the rich, they're doing fine, the middle class, not so much, that's the wealth gap you should be upset about.

Doing all good now. I cut some vices like yayo and Korean rub and tugs out last year, but looks like all systems go now.

I'm wasted on $50 a bottle bourbon.

Doing really good under Obama.

But I have a felling it wouldn't matter who was president.

I'm doing great....found a nice niche working for the gov't helping them dismantle failing credit unions...and there's no shortage of those.   My pay has gone up about 67% in the 2 years Obama's been in office. Guys with my skillset are few and far between, apparently. I'll probably be fucked if a Republican gets elected though.... :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

My success has never been based upon who controlled the government. It is and was based on getting up and working hard and smart. If you do that you can usually stay 1 or 2 steps ahead of the governmental thieves.

I'm doing fine right now.

Presidential influence in economics generally has negligible effect unless the President has a cooperative Congress.

Yes, me and my dad had to drop our concrete business, every one is still affraid to spend money, If the economy was "getting better", I would still have a job, and still be getting plenty of business.

Im still waiting.

Doing OK, slightly worse. Got laid off in July - got a new job in October, double dipped on pay until 1st week of December. However, the commute is longer which means more gas $$, parking & tolls and even though the base is the same the variable comp for at least right now is lower but ask me that one again in the beginning of the summer & I'll have a better answer. And you have to wait for 401k enrollment so that's a negative there.

My health care expenses are still higher than ever so for all that stupid debate last year - it ain't done shit for my wallet.
