All cat Griz things aside. It looks real nice. The score board on that picture looks a little small that would be my only concern if I was a cat fan.

What about that box thingy below it? Is that for the scoreboard operators? Seems like the view wouldn't be the greatest from that point (portion of the field being blocked from view and such).G&B wrote:All cat Griz things aside. It looks real nice. Anyways, still looking sweet

Re: The new look of Montana State stadium.
i'm pretty sure the scoreboard in the picture is merely conceptual. there will 2 new scoreboard added upon completion of the expansion. one "small" one atop the south grandstand(like the one in the picture), and a "big" one in the north EZ. the rumor is the stadium is no longer getting lights and the extra funds are being put towards the new scoreboard in the NEZ. supposedly we were getting SMU's old scoreboard, but now that we have some extra money to spend i've heard they're leaning towards something bigger/newer/better, complete with an HD video screen. we'll see.ArmyOfDarkness wrote:What about that box thingy below it? The "box thingy" is called a camera platform.

I see it now lol. Thought it was an enclosed box, hence the wondering.Catattack wrote:The "box thingy" is called a camera platform.

yes, i believe that is it. it's hard to imagine something bigger/better than that, but i've heard the one we're getting is awesome.

SMU hand-me-downs worked pretty well for us.

That's SMU's new one. We were getting their old one but if we have more of a budget, it won't be that one. We'll have more of a widescreen board that I would assume would be new.
Yes, the scoreboard in the pic is just a small one on the other end of the stadium. The platform below it is indeed for the cameras.

Here's my question (and it applies at Wa-Griz as well): Why is it so fucking hard to make the pieces fit together? Is it just too damned challenging for the engineers? Somehow they manage at The Big House and The Rose Bowl.

Re: The new look of Montana State stadium.
Wa-Griz actually did a pretty good job with theirs.
Most of it has to deal with trying to match up really old bleachers with all the new construction materials techniques. I know that future plans are to replace the east side grandstands and sky boxes and might be able to matchup that side then. However it will probably be another 20 years after paying off this last go around before we can do that and same thing will happen again.
I think that MSU has a pretty good plan overall plan to make things mesh. UM started off with a better base to work with and had to figure out how to add onto current structure.

Well, in the immortal words of Ron Burgandy, we'll have to agree to disagree...that being said, I like the look of the sCats end zones much better than the current NEZ at Wa-Griz.Silenoz wrote:Perfect symmetry = boringAZGrizFan wrote:
