The stadium could go a long way toward luring a professional sports team to Sin City. But competing projects and hurdles involving funding and public support ensure the proposal has a long, thorny road ahead.
Ed Roski, chief executive of Majestic Realty Co., said at a news conference at the Silverton Casino Lodge that his company will formally ask the Board of Regents to agree to a public-private partnership.
"For a project of this magnitude to work, it has to make sense economically, but it also has to capture the imagination, the creativity and the energy of the community," Roski said. "I am optimistic that this project will accomplish all three."
No cost estimates or timetable were given.
