Not trying to call you out here, CM, but when was gay marriage on the ballot in SC?

I ask because I have voted in nearly every election in SC since I was 18, and I don't remember ever voting on that. I would remember it because I'd have been happy to extend the same rights to misery and wealth redistribution for gays that the rest of us currently enjoy.

I think he was referring to the constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, which he voted against.

I see homosexuality as an observable consistent trend that appears both in the animal kingdom and in homo sapiens - you see it as a defect
The fact that something occurs "as an observable consistent trend that appears in both the animal kingdom and in homo sapiens" does not mean it is not a defect. Deafness occurs in various species that normally have hearing. It is a defect. You and I could think of many other examples.

BTW, even the fact that the term "gay" is consistently used rather than "homosexual" demonstrates how effective the "mind control" campaign by egalitarians focused on "normalizing" homosexuality has been.

Hint: You're use of words like abnormal and defect might be taken the wrong way. Not that you mean that way, but they do come off as a little pejorative. That and the fact you seem a little obsessed with the topic. Just trying to help here.

With respect to me being "obsessed" with this topic:

I rarely, if ever, start threads on homosexuality. I don't think I'm the one obsessed with starting threads about it.

With respect with my terminology being perceived as "perjorative:" I don't care.

My problem with this thing is that it is, to me, one of the starkest examples of the process of scientific inquiry being corrupted by philosophical bias. In this case egalitarian bias.

You've made similar comments in enough threads for me to remember, so...

Like I said, just trying to be helpful so I really don't care whether you don't care or not.

But just out of curiosity and aside from the scientific issue, do you think homosexuality is wrong?

Since I am an agnostic, I'd have to say "I don't know."

What I would say is that people should be free to practice homosexaulity if they wish as long as they are not directly harming anyone else just like they should be free to practice heterosexuality if they wish as long as they are not directly harming anyone else.

The problem comes when homosexuals and those supporting them engage in efforts to brainwash or force others into accepting their condition as "normal." Just do your thing. Don't engage in all the cr*p of browbeating and indoctorinating with the objective of having your condition accepted as "normal" when it's not.

So asking someone to not judge you negatively for an act which in no way hurts them is brainwashing? You are a jackass.

Who knows if it's normal or not... It might be a natural part of evolution (or even part of the grand design)
The only difference on this issue between us is you think it's a defect and I don't - I think it just is...

I'd say for the most part they're looking for acceptancel. Live there lives without fear of retribution.

Sure some of it over the top, but groups tend to get that way when they've been repressed. I'm guessing they're not all that into being "normal". In fact they tend to celebrate diversity and many of them appear to embrace anti-culture. You're the one that has inserted "normal" into the debate.

I think it was you who talked about the importance of words in another debate. Not that you appear to be obsessing on the word "normal" or anything.

In one sense everything is "normal." It is "normal" that some people will be born with Down's Syndrome. It is "normal" that some people will be deaf. It is normal that somce people will suffer Cystic Fibrosis.

As for whether it is a "defect" or not, think about what sexually motivated behavior is about biologically. When a male reaches climax gametes are ejected. Why do you think there is intense pleasure associated with gametes being ejected? Why do you think an organism would evolve so as to pursue stimulation that would result in the ejection of gametes? So on and so forth.

A sex drive primarily directed at members of an individual's own sex is misdirected. It's not that hard to see that.

Except that we've had maybe four or five decades of egalitarian efforts to obsure it.

Egalitarianism (derived from the French word égal, meaning "equal"), is a trend of thought that favors equality of some sort. Its general premise is that people should be treated as equals on certain dimensions such as race, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation, economic status, social status, and cultural heritage. Egalitarian doctrines maintain that all humans are equal in fundamental worth or social status
Ye gads! Sounds awful.

Egalitarian apprently is the new social justice.

John,
I've thought about it purely scientifically and I get it - I understand it doesn't make reproductive sense
But neither does a world with 6.5 billion people on it...

Considering that:
Maybe the perfect global balance of homosexuals should really be 85% Homosexual 15% Heterosexual

That would spell the end for municipal boards of architectural review, as well as stupid homeowner's associations feeling the need to tell people not to have the wrong color curtains.

I could get on board with that.
