Hitler and the MB are truly your enemy, jon.

Seriously, when are you going to figure out that no gay person asks for their "lifestyle" to be "celebrated".

Egypt won't be Afghanistan, but it won't be Egypt, either.
You think the Egyptian military will sit still for that?
Not if the MB makes any radical moves at this very moment, but that is not how things will unfold. They will slowly cashier key players in the military and install their own people. It will not take long.

Besides, I thought the topic here was whether or not the Muslim Brotherhood is a largely secular organization. Whether the Egyptian military will tolerate them is immaterial. (And the Egyptian military ALREADY tolerates them as does/did Mubarak... that is an important thing to consider.)

OK, they are not secular. If they follow your scenario why won't they find themselves in Mubarak's position?

Because they already directly represent 20-40% of the population, and are supported by an even higher percentage, as referenced elsewhere.

American pollster James Zogby, an ethic Arab, shares some insight into the Egyptian mindset:

The Pew Foundation has also conducted some interesting polls within the last year or so,

That’s my feeling towards this. Yeah it would suck for US interests if the majority of Egyptians supported a supposedly radical Muslim group/organization, but ultimately it’s their choice. That’s the beauty of Democracy. Plus we have enough sh!t to worry about in our country, I’d rather the Obama administration and Congress find ways to get us out of the big hole we are in then worry about how they want to screw with Egypt’s issues. :twocents:

That's been my point all along as well. This is their deal and they have to now make whatever choices they need to make to have their country work. It ain't about us.

We can certainly hope that they move towards what they say they want in this. There is evidence that they want to with the groups of "get out the vote" type things going on. The day after Mubarek left there were groups going around to neighborhoods to educate the public that if they let their votes be bought and if they succumbed to groups with certain agenda's that they would be right back in the shape they are now in and this all would have been for nothing.
