Speaking from experience, local and state government regulatory bureacracies and 90% of their employees are extremely inefficient and a gigantic pain in the ass. Everyone is affraid to answer a question and very few of them can take charge of a situation, think outside the box or help a constituent resolve a problem - which is their job.

No, but on a serious note...I was born and raised in south Alabama. I know quite a few Conks. Most of them are morbidly obese.

George W tried to pass immigration reform.

Dub also allowed faith based organizations to administer some federal aid programs.

He also dodged shoes very effectively.

I've never questioned GWB's honest belief in what he was doing was right and I'll always sort of admire his capacity to stand firm in his beliefs even while his numbers were tanking.

I will always respect the way Lindsey Graham handled the Sotomayor confirmation hearings.

I respect people who say what they believe and not what's the popular, talking points memo, party-line speech. Ron Paul is a respectable politician.

Bill O'Reilly isn't quite as partisan and ideological as some people make him out to be.

I wish Colin Powell would run for President.

One more: I at least have respect for Scalia. I think he's dead wrong on a lot of issues, but I can at least grasp his arguments. As opposed to Thomas, who has become nothing more than Scalia's lap dog and who only wants a strict interpretation when it fits his argument.

More than anything, I would say that I at least have respect for any Conk who stands up for what they believe in as opposed to just postering to the GOP and following the party line. It's okay to be hard-right, as long as you're sincere about it and not just doing it because it's the new "hip" thing to do.
