Indeed, and I'm not sure God Himself could handle that one.89Hen wrote:That would be a miracle.dbackjon wrote:or the Ivy League to join the playoffs.

I haven't lost anything. Just look at the "rational" responses in this thread. For a bunch of "rationalists," you all go to some ridiculous extremes to deny the existence of anything which seems extraordinary.
Joe you have lost, alot lately.
I told you years ago that I would ultimately win this war, and I did.

Dude, you took a beating in this thread. Again. 70,000 people dismissed for mass delusion. As I said, earlier, you would have a field day if I did something that irrational -- outright dismiss the accounts of 70,000 people because it was inconsistent with my beliefs.D1B wrote:JoltinJoe wrote:

My point was made. You were all mocking a single nun for being delusional; but you would do the same if evidence of something extraordinary was witnessed by something like 70,000 people? I just posed the question and watched the predictable (and silly) responses roll in.
Trust me. Rational people got the point and see you were exposed. The issue here was never whether something was a miracle. The issue was what would you do with overwhelming evidence tending to suggest that something was miraculous. And your response (as I knew it would be) would be to call them all delusional. You are like my trained seal.

You know, a couple of guys didn't allow themselves to get trapped as you did. They allowed for the evidence of something miraculous, while saying they personally didn't believe it was a miracle.

70,000 people. I know they were all delusional.
But what I've gleaned is that 3 kids said that they saw something odd/miraculous and then the next day 70,000 people showed up to witness the oncoming miracle?
Hell that's kind of a miracle in itself that 70K including non believers would show up on the word of 3 youngsters in a days time even if the event itself is scientifically explainable.
I didn't read all the links though so I may have some facts out of order there.
Re: The Catholic saint and shrine factory comes to Wisconsin
There's a lot more to the story than that. The reason that 70,000 people showed up was because this event was encouraged by the anti-clerical Portuguese government and the press that it controlled -- to show how delusional and crazed the Catholic faithful were.Ursus A. The revolution in Portugal installed a government which was hostile the Catholic Church and which sought to restrict its growth.
On May 13, 1917, the three children first reported seeing the Virgin Mary. They said they were told that she would appear to them every month on the same date and time for six months. Eventually, they said that Mary promised a great miracle on her last appearance.
The authorities took to jailing the three children for what they were spreading. But when they learned of the promise of a great miracle, they and the press the controlled became openly scornful. Confident that nothing would happen, they began encouraging people to be there on October 13 at noon to watch -- and see nothing happen.
So the big crowd was full of non-believers who were there to ridicule.
