But I was carded up until my early 30's and I have always looked younger than I am. Although, it seems the aging process has been working OT on me lately.

I've been involved with Donk campaigns since 2002 - I have NEVER in my career seen one dollar of that guys money - and keep in mind, I worked for a guy who became a cause celeb in 08...
while he funds a few outside groups (america votes primarily) he's not nearly as influential as people assume.

I agree, it just cracks me up when I hear Repubs claim Soros runs the Dems & Dems laugh it off. But then the Dems respond with the Koch Bros owning the Repub Party and they don't see the irony.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:the great right-wing myth of Soros... lolAppaholic wrote:

Soros runs outside groups primarily and spends his money fighting the incredibly silly media war with the likes of fox... (Richard Mellon Scaife is his GOP counterpart)
the Koch's are some of the biggest bundlers in the GOP - they pour tens of millions straight in to the coffers of the GOP campaign machinery. most of the lather coming from dems about the koch's stems from the perception, and as it turns out from this phone call - reality, that the Koch's have direct access to the Governor of Wisconsin on matters of state, whereas he won't even have a conversation with his own states opposition party about a compromise.

... not at that level they don't.kalm wrote:And the really smart ones have access to both parties.Appaholic wrote:

bundlers work one side of the street almost exclusively. lobbyists, and big solo donors do what you are saying... but the guys in our line of work that we refer to as "whales" pick a side and stay there.
bundlers are the ones who can make you relevant or shut off your lights with a flick of the wrist. while there are campaign finance limits, their ability to round up max out ($4,800/person/cycle) donors is what makes them so valuable... there aren't very many - and getting involved with one can have messy consequences, depending on who they are (as is happening in WI right now)
