Then final game will be at Milwaukee unless they lose then its at the highest seed thats left.

Why not go all neutral court? It would have to save money on travel, and would probably draw more fans as they wouldn't have to travel all over the place last second notice. I love the fact that the MVC is in St Louis and has been and will be. It's a great vacation full of basketball in a great city.

three reasons - 1. it adds incentive in the regular season... getting to host the opening round is a huge incentive.

2. it's easier when the tournament has some hype - arch madness is a bigger deal - but you should see the attendance in Sioux Falls for the Summit tournament... pathetic (unless NDSU or SDSU starts to make a run)

3. renting a large arena that you can't fill in a distant city during the school week, for school with smallish (or at least not inclined to travel) fan bases (except Butler) doesn't make sense once you've reached the semis... there is more incentive for fans to travel - less time to have to rent the arena - and less travel costs for the schools overall (home games for the hosts are cheaper than traveling to the the neutral site, so if nothing else, it likely balances out)

well - a couple things... the success of the MVC in the ncaa tournament has a lot to do with it...

the mvc does a great job of marketing "arch madness" as a real destination event.

the fans are all pretty close to st. louis... (plus many mvc schools have significant alumni bases in st. louis)

and they put the tourney on over the first weekend of mini madness and make teams play back-to-back-to-back which makes it great for the fans

The MVC tournament is, and has been one of the the best and most successful conference tournaments in the country for a long time.

The smaller conferences have to have their tournaments at home sites to ensure that people show up. As was said before, with the smaller fan bases in those smaller conferences, people will not go to a neutral site and it would just end up costing the conferences a ton of money.

The fact that the Horizon league conference championship is at the the highest remaining seed, to have a big attendance. If it was a neutral site im not sure how well it would go. The HL as a whole doesnt travel well.

The MVC tournament is, and has been one of the the best and most successful conference tournaments in the country for a long time.

The smaller conferences have to have their tournaments at home sites to ensure that people show up. As was said before, with the smaller fan bases in those smaller conferences, people will not go to a neutral site and it would just end up costing the conferences a ton of money.

The BSC does the higher seed hosts option too. I would prefer a neutral court approach as I have heard ESPN can't televise the games when not informed in advance about where the games will be. Plus a place like Salt Lake City would be fairly centered for most of the BSC schools that participate in the tournament.

You just described the issues the SWAC has with it's tourney.
