Never said it was an upset. I tell ya what anytime ya post something even half way positive about NDSU their is a whole slew of griz fans that just fall all over them selves to belittle it........kind of amusing actually. I look forward to the home and home with them in a few years. I said the MAC was toilet......meaning Umass going from the CAA to the MAC would not really be much of a step up as far as football talent goes...just a step up in classification.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:Grizalltheway wrote:

The win over Ball St. in 06, while awesome for the program (our first FBS win) it wasn't much of an upset...
the win over Central Michigan with Dan Lefevour however... 44-14... that was pretty damned impressive.
Umass going to the MAC???

Re: Umass going to the MAC???
Any win for a FCS team against a FBS team is a good win, especially over any BCS Conference team. It doesn't matter if it's a huge upset or not.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:Grizalltheway wrote:

Back to the thread topic, Umass should stay at the FCS level. I would take a chance of getting into the playoffs about every year and a possibility of a national title, over getting into a December bowl game between teams that are 6-6.. being rewarded for mediocrity doesn't excite me.

NDSU was rewarded for being mediocore this past season in football....especially in MVFC play.Thundering Herd wrote:Any win for a FCS team against a FBS team is a good win, especially over any BCS Conference team. It doesn't matter if it's a huge upset or not.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:

Re: Umass going to the MAC???
Not quite, NDSU was not rewarded for being mediocre in conference, which they were. If they beat a FCS team in week 1 instead of Kansas, the Bison wouldn't have made it to the playoffs. Beating a BCS team isn't mediocre(Even if it was 6-3, a win is a win)... I will admit NDSU was undeservedly given a home playoff game in the play-in round.clenz wrote:NDSU was rewarded for being mediocore this past season in football....especially in MVFC play.
NDSU was a little better than mediocre in the playoffs though. Ask the Bobcats...

Re: Umass going to the MAC???
Agree with all that except that NDSU sure as hell had every right to have the home play in game. There was nothing undeserved about that.Thundering Herd wrote:Not quite, NDSU was not rewarded for being mediocre in conference, which they were. Re: Umass going to the MAC???
What is Umass waiting for..Seems like its a done deal to move up..
Re: Umass going to the MAC???
what is Umass waiting for??? Rumor has it, its a done deal??? On a completely unsubstantiated, conspiracy theory, now that signing day is over, a delay would allow FBS players to evaluate their position i.e. playing time or roster spot on their current team. If they feel there is a better opportunity elsewhere, well, they could announce they are transferring prior to the upgrade announcement, enroll at UMass either during the summer or fall, and be eligible to play this year..

Hope to see you guys in the MAC soon. UMass vs Temple should be a good end of the season MAC rivalry.

I din't think those two are related at all. I've thought from the start that VU should do it - don't know if it'll work out long term but it beats their other options.MALVES21 wrote:Now that Vill is gone, Umass is next to go...Seems that umass was waiting for Vill to make its decsion...

The wait is on what Nova plans to due....
Nova says yes then Temple commits to the MAC and they add UMASS...
now Nova says no then who does Big East take as their 10th team,
UCF, Houston, Temple ,SMU, or East Carolina, or can stay at 9 teams
Say CUSA losses a team option for them to replace would be
Temple, UNT, La. Tech one of the Florida Belt teams, or even UTSA...
First domino is Nova, then the others will fall into place..
I'm hoping Nova says No and the Big East takes one of these teams Houston, UCF, East Carolina or even SMU

Chancellor Robert Holub said the University of Massachusetts will announce whether its football program will make the jump to the Bowl Subdivision level “sometime in early March,’’ according to a report on masslive.com. An earlier Globe report said indications point to the Minutemen leaving the Championship Subdivision to become a football-only member of the Mid-American Conference starting in the 2013 season
