The topic of the NBA coming to Baltimore crops up every now and then on local radio. I don't think the city could support it.
I do think a NHL team might be able to survive up here. Older AHL teams, Clippers, Skipjacks had good support.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Without the Kings, Sac-Town would be the biggest market without a team in the Big 4 (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB). Even bigger than Vegas.

Not sure who is really at fault here. Sac has supported the team back when they were contenders. All pro teams go through a period of downsizing. Can't see them being any more relevant in the shadow of the Lakers and Clippers. The Clippers are hardly relevant in the Lakers' shadow as it is.

I don't know the west coast scene well enough to say for sure... but isn't this the Maloofs just waiting to move the team to Vegas as soon as they can?

I'm sure the league wouldn't like it - but it would seem to me to be their long term goal - once (or, I suppose if,) Vegas gets on it's feet again...

Just read recently where the mayor of Sacto was not very optimistic about the Kings future... seems to think the Maloofs are committed to moving.

That's the thing, TTBF. Given that the majority of the Maloofs' other holdings are in Lost Wages, one would expect that they would want to move the Kings there ASAP. That they have not suggests to me that they have had back-channel communications with David Stern and/or his NBA HQ associates, who likely told them that Wager Central is off-limits due to the potential for casino mafia to attempt fixing games.

What is known for sure is that the Clippers have had individual-game success at the Pond. It's a testament to how depraved Donald Sterling is that he chose to be second banana at the Forum/Staples to Dr. Jerry, the Zen Master, and the Playboy Bunny associated with them. That leaves the Pond for the Kings, if the Maloofs can stomach the crazy $$ that they will have to fork over to make the move.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

About Vegas, what I've been hearing is that there is no NBA arena in Vegas. Tom and Mack could be with renovations, but due to the bad economy in the area, no one is stepping up with the funds to renovate T&M (or build a new arena). Whether a move to Anaheim would be temporary until the Maloofs can get an NBA arena in Vegas remains to be seen, but right now, an NBA arena is the furthest thing on the minds of the city officials there, and I think the Maloofs know that.
