NPR Exec confirms what we already knew

Post by YoUDeeMan »

NPR - a left leaning organization that only pretends to be neutral.

"Outgoing NPR executive Ron Schiller slams Republicans and the tea party movement and suggests that NPR would be better off without any federal funding in a hidden-camera video released Tuesday by conservative filmmaker James O'Keefe."

"In the video, Schiller said that the current Republican Party has been "hijacked" by a group that's "not just Islamophobic, but really xenophobic" and suggests the tea party movement is comprised of some "seriously racist, racist people." Also, Ron Schiller doesn't appear to interject when the two men make outlandish comments about Jews controlling the media and laughs when they jokingly refer to NPR as "National Palestinian Radio."

Schiller, on tape, points out "that very little of our funding comes from the government" despite claims to the contrary. He adds that "in the long run we would be better off without federal funding."

Seriously. I agree with the thread title... but, what he's confirming that's already known is that the teabaggers are hotheaded xenophobes that are taking over the Republican party.

Gosh, most of those Jews are racist, too.

Hey, but not us! :o

When the ersatz Islamists declare they’re “not too upset about maybe a little bit less Jew influence of money into NPR,” Schiller responds by saying he doesn’t find “Zionist or pro-Israel” ideas at NPR, “even among funders. I mean it’s there in those who own newspapers, obviously, but no one owns NPR.”

Schiller added that “they [the American Jewish World Service] are really looking for a fair point of view and many Jewish organizations are not.”

Contrary to the perception that NPR is primarily funded by the government, the network only receives about 1 to 2 percent of its funds from federal grants. Individual NPR member stations, located around the country, rely on state and federal sources for about 10 percent of their funding
Oh ma gersh. NPR isn't above whoring itself out to prospective donors?

What exactly do you have a problem with? I'll assume you don't have a problem with the statement that they've taken over the Republican party. I'll assume you take umbrage with the xenophobia part.

Every teabagger I know is pretty fucking xenophobic. All of the ones on this board are. Wouldn't take me too much effort to dig through some posts on hispanics, muslims, Europeans, etc. etc.

Sure, there are exceptions... but, I don't think it's that "out there" to suggest that the tea party movement is xenophobic.

Being against illegal immigration, anchor babies, and believing that the quote "religion of peace" is an oxymoron isn't an "unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners". Well, it might be in the minds of you left wingers, but not in the minds of more rational folks.

Gotta agree with BDK on this one....being against illegal immigration & anchor babies is being against persons who abuse this society's good faith and freedom of movement for their personal gain. A legal immigrant who has a baby while working in America with a valid visa is following the laws of this land. An illegal immigrant crossing the border at night with his pregnant wife so the baby can be born in this country with the inherent rights of a citizen is abusing the system. Being against that is not being unreasonable. And calling out moderate muslims for their failure to call out radicals killing the name of their religion due to their xenophobic issues is not unreasonable. Burning down a random mosque because of this would be Xenophobic.
