Not today. Today I am eating a huge blue cheese bacon cheeseburger, in honor of the catholic yahoos who can't eat meat because of belly button lint. What about you? You eating some sausage today?

No, I had sausage yesterday.

Would rather deal with losing a couple hundred in cash (which knock on wood hasn't happened before), than be a victim of identity theft (has happened twice with my Amex card). Since the last time a couple of years ago I've always paid cash at restaurants (I'm convinced a waiter with a skimmer was how it happened the last time). Anytime a merchant can't take a credit card payment from me without me being able to maintain a constant visual on the credit card I'll pay cash. I've jumped on merchants before for simply turning around with my credit card where I couldn't maintain a 100% visual on the card. Use of skimmers is too widespread. Reason I always carry cash.

Maybe you shouldn't jump on merchants... :?

I know it's a pain in the ass disputing charges, but isn't your personal liability only $50 or so?

You're fortunate then. FTC says over 9 million Americans become victims of it every year. Another survey from Javelin Strategy & Research shows that 11.1 million Americans say they were ID theft victims in 2009.

Survey Reveals 38 Million Americans Claim Identity Theft In Their Lifetime
20% of U.S. households have a member who was violated by identity theft – - number of victims per year on the rise

I thought about whether or not to type this but I guess it's OK. My problem is that the GAO is the messenger. I have dealt with the GAO ...been interviewed by GAO auditors...and I really don't think it necessarily knows what it's doing in any particular case. I know when I was interviewed I came away with the impression that the guys involved did not understand enough about what they were investigating to make a competent judgement. To me you'd have to have a more credible institution saying it before I'd start thinking about it.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
