This is strike 2 for him...he didn't play last year because of an off the field issue and was told he didn't have any more chances...I don't mind this move. The kid can play but even from the start everything was an issue. He committed to us then de-committed only to recommit again and then he missed last year, a year we could have used him especially in the NC when Guisti went down. Now this. I'm sure he'll catch on somehwere else but we have a team full of other players who never get into trouble.

What coach in his right mind would bench a great player for an entire season? Exactly my point.. Maybe if he wasnt suspend for an entire season he could have jumped in when Guisti went down. Maybe the Henz win the NC in 2010. Maybe if he wasnt suspended, and he got to play in 2010 he doesn't get the DUI.

Theres 2 ways to look at this, Guy. Believe me, players lose faith in coached FAST and suspending a player for a year is insane. Either commit to the player or make him leave the team at the time of the suspension.

Marcorrelle played almost zero time at DE this past year - the only time he did was when he too hurt to man the MLB position and they tried to get any time from him (i.e pass rushing downs only). Where do you get this idea that they were moving Makumbi up to a starting role and bumping Marcorelle to accomodate that? Worrilow is a much better LB'er than Makumbi, no matter how much you try to avoid that fact. Not sure why you are talking Worrilow down. I understand you want to hope LB play is an area of concern this year, but you're really stretching it by saying that not having Makumbi to back up Worrilow at MLB is going to be a real problem. Most teams would love to have the only problem as to how to find a backup MLB.
I was talkimg about the playoffs, when Marcorelle did spend some time at DE, and did not refer to Makumbi as a starter. The Makumbi discussion was triggered by you claiming both Lugo and Hunte were better than him. I never said anything negative about Worrilow, other than he looked like a good fit at MLB. Worrilow may well be a better MLB than Makumbi, but Lugo and Hunte are not. It was you who made that comparison.
Heh, I never knew how important Makumbi was to last year's team until I read it from you. Who knew?

Against GSU I remember Dikembe Mutombo being one of the most impressive on the Hen D.

I think we are looking at 2 separate issues here. We lost the NC for a few reasons the most pressing one of course was that they didn't have a qualified chain crew for a National Championship game. KC spoke with CAA and NCAA officials, both agree it was a blown call and a situation that should never have happened. But that's history. You guys won, you had a great team...my hats off to you.

In regards to KC suspending players. I have never thought him overly tough. It's case by case basis and he does give second chances, he also handles minor situations with 1, 2, sometimes 3 game suspensions (Morales this year was suspended for a few games) without booting them off the team. There are players he has flat out kicked off the team. That being said, the kids know the rules and they know there are consequences for breaking those rules. Star players as well...Look at Josh Baker. Neither you or I are in any position to question his decision to suspend Everett for the year because it was never released as to what he did. That being said, he was given a second chance and he blew it. That's it...

And who uses the word GUY?

I'd agree you guys look ok at LB, but the comment I responded to was that you would be better at LB than last year, and it's hard to see the 2011 lineup as an improvement. Worrilow would seem to be a good fit at MLB, but remains to be seen if he can fill that position as well as Marcorelle and Makumbi did.
Matt was a second team MLB...and no other Hen LBs got press. Frankly, MM was good, but he wasn't a superstar...and it isn't as if he spent 4 years being an LB. Worrilow will fill in for MM and we won't lose much...he has a good shot at making the All CAA team. Call it a wash...but I think PW has better LB instincts. The other LBs will have another year under their belts. If this group stays healthy, they have a good shot at being better than last year's unit.

Also, our interior DL will be strong and bigger than last year...eating up blocks. No one's going to be running it up the gut on us...and it should free up our LBs to make plays.
He did make 3rd team All CAA.

As far as the CAA LBs coming back who received All CAA honors, 6 last season, 2 09':

-Tyler Holmes, UMass (will be a senior)- 1st team All CAA, 1st team AP AA, 1st team Sports Network AA, College Sporting News AA. He'll be pre season All Everyhting and a Buchanon candidate.

-Matt Evans UNH: (will be a jr) 2nd team All CAA, Walter Camp AA,2nd Team AP AA, 2nd Team Sports Network AA, College Sporting News AA. Led the league in tackles, made 4 AA lists, yet didn't make 1st team All CAA, a head scratcher at that one considering the four 1st team All CAA LBs made 3,3, 1, and 0 AA lists. He'll also be pre season All Everyhting and a Buchanon candidate

-Dante Cook, W&M (will be a jr): 2nd team All CAA

-Donte Dennis, Maine (will be a sr): 3rd team All CAA

-Stephon Roberston, JMU (will be a soph): 3rd team All CAA & CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year

-Paul Worrilow, UD (will be a jr): 3rd team All CAA

-Pat Williams, JMU (will be a sr): 3rd team All CAA strong safety & CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year 08', 3rd team All CAA LB 09', last yr put up bigger #s last yr (6th in the CAA in tackles (CAA games only)) yet got snubbed from All CAA at LB. :?

-Jake Trantin, W&M (will be sr?): 2nd team All CAA 09', pre season 1st team last yr, injured? Also thought I read somewhere he left W&M?

You're pre season 1st teamers will be Holmes, Evans, Cook, and then one of the following 4: Worrilow, Robertson, Dennis, or Trantin if he's still at W&M.

Trantin had to leave school last fall for family reasons, and is back for the spring. He will return to MLB, allowing Dante Cook to move back outside.
