Not only do we claim the #1 spot - we get #2. How the hell aren't Cleveland Browns fans on the list? And the Raiders should be much higher, definitely a Pennsylvania bias - even neighboring WVU is on there....

Re: Philly Wins!!
it's an interesting criteria...
but the worst fans are
a) miami (all sports) front running douches who only show up when their team is on the verge winning a championship and pretend to have "been there all the way"
b) boston (all sports) after 2003 when their "pain" became everyone's business yet again - for their house organ that is ESPN - worse still after 2004 when they became the same braying assholes they always denounced yankee fans for being
c) Yankees - it's like cheering for Microsoft or Wal Mart... there can't even be real joy in victory. Case in point - upon winning it all in 2009 their veterans looked relieved - not elated.
d) Duke - for, if nothing else the sheer pomposity in the "order has been restored" bullshit
e) North Carolina - for pretending they somehow aren't just as bad as Duke - when they are.
philly fans are assholes - but they also have the balls and chutzpah to boo the fuck out of star players who aren't working hard (and they know it) they don't fellate the egos of stars simply because they are stars. being a Minnesota fan, at Joe Mauer's first game he got a standing ovation... I wondered aloud - why are we cheering this guy? he hasn't done shit yet. I was given the "passive aggressive death stare" that is the Minnesota equivalent of being vomited on by an entire section

Worst: Los Angeles fans, period. Not fans at all.
Somebody has forgotten that "fan" comes from "fanatical".

No they aren't, and certainly no worse than anywhere else I've been to in the country/world. In fact, I'd say they are better and more knowledgeable fans than most other fanbases, so long as you aren't rooting for the opposing team.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:it's an interesting criteria...

Very true - I've been all over the country - it's hard to say there is a better place to be than Philly when their team is doing well & that fanbase is behind them. Consistently across sports visiting players say it's the toughest place to play. As hard as we can be on our own players - we kill the other team.

Re: Philly Wins!!
you misunderstand. i don't see asshole as a pejorative... and you're right - they KILL other teams... I went to a few games at the bank in 06 - one of the coolest things I saw... the fans along third base would clear out of the way when the other team popped one up down the line. but if the phils fouled one down the line - the hands came out to interfere with the other teams 3b or lf going in to the stands... perfect.bluehenbillk wrote:bandl wrote:No they aren't, and certainly no worse than anywhere else I've been to in the country/world. This "poll" is five years out of date. Phils fans haven't thrown a battery at a player since the Phils left the Vet.

Agreed. Show up late and leave early. In MY book, you pay the $$ for a ticket, you stay for the WHOLE game, even if you lose. But for THEM, that doesn't even matter. They leave early, anyway....89Hen wrote:Worst: Los Angeles fans, period. Not fans at all.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
