not for nothin' but riddle me this... what would you have him do? I've read a lot of criticism - what i haven't read are a lot of ideas. just saying...

I would have him sit on his hands and do nothing.

I would also have him issue the following statement: "The United States supports the popular movement to replace a brutal dictator in Libya. However, direct US intervention in Libya is not in the national interest of the United States. Therefore we will not be offering material assistance to this uprising."

The above might be criticized, but it would be a decision. At least the guy can come out and make it look like he knows what he is doing, even though we all know he doesn't.
