What's up with Michigan?!?

Post by SuperHornet »

Per the CBS Bottom Line, Michigan is the first team to win a NCAAT game without making a single free throw. Yet they won by more than 4 TDs!

How the cr@p does THAT happen?!?

They were playing a team that gave up. Tennessee was allowing Michigan uncontested shots. So no fouls on shooting attempts = no free throws.

Tennessee was "playing for" Bruce Pearl... why show up when the game is going to disappear from the record books in a few years anyway?

Anyone want to set odds on PS at least getting an offer to coach the Vols?

Why? She's already had at least one offer from TN-Martin....

She wouldn't do it anyway, so it's a moot point.

You sure? The reason I heard that she turned down her alma mater was that they couldn't support the program (facilities and recruiting) to the degree she'd like. That shouldn't be a problem in Knoxville.

and UT won't take the MASSIVE recruiting hit...

UT-Martin is a bush-league OVC school... the kind where a female coach as a novelty would get them some publicity they need...

Tennessee is one of the top jobs in the SEC - one of the top conferences in college basketball... no way in hell they'll tank their recruiting like that.

(before you jump my shit - don't even - I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying that it's what is.)

Huh? The NCAA vacates wins when an ineligible player plays. No one's eligibility on the team is in question. I don't know what the NCAA will rule, but no record books will be touched.

And, yeah, Tennessee looked like they just wanted their season to be over. Tobias Harris, Skylar McBee, and Trae Golden were the only ones who put in any effort whatsoever.

They were too young. Not talented enough. Picked to finish 10th or 11th in the Big Ten Conference by most talking heads. Many questioned the program, the coach and the players, wondering if Michigan basketball would ever become elite again. A status where they would consistently compete for conference titles and tournament appearances year after year.
