I won't be fine with our mission in Libya if we send 150,000+ troops there and 4,000+ troops die. I'll want Obama castrated if he ends up sending in a full invasion force.

Boy the stance on Iraq sure is softening, huh?
Skelly captures in a nutshell what is so absurdly wrong with the supremely incompetent communist/peacenick/Obama approach to American power.

And Cluck, Obama's "coalition" is already falling apart.

Shit, I knew I shouldn't have told them to vote for it. Stupid me. :ohno:

The fact that they voted for it really has no bearing on how the US population as a whole felt about it. If not for the WMD bullshit spoon-fed to the public, NO ONE would have been in favor of it.

Yes it is a dick move, indeed. Now that your anti depressants have elevated you brain activity to a point where you can recognize that, we'll be expecting to hear your regular calls for massive funding for a new grid and a crash program to reduce our dependence on monarchies in the mid-east.

The whole thing can be paid for by the reduced defense budget. :coffee:

I've never been a fan of our foreign policy...and certainly have never been a fan of being captive to oil. Make no mistake, we could have reduced our dependency a long time ago...but money rules.

Party hacks...idiots...such as TTBF, skelly, and their whack job counterparts on the right are what keep the game going. My man is right, and your guy is the boogeyman. Divide and conquer. :dunce:

Obama is doing the same damned thing Bush did and yet skelly and TTBF can't see it. Grizalltheway is having trouble forming the words, "Obama is as much as a war monger as Bush...and for the same reasons".

Oooops!

"Admiral Hueber also said that the coalition was communicating with rebel forces. But later, when he was pressed on whether the United States was telling rebels not to go down certain roads because there would be airstrikes there, he said he had misspoken. American military officials have said there are no “official communications” with the rebels, which remains a delicate issue. Contact with the rebels would reflect a direct American military intervention in the civil war of another country."

Wrong on that point.

They DO see it, and will defend it with the poorly thought out spin you have seen because they are nothing more than partisan hacks. So much for the side that professes to be open minded and free thinking.

They are nothing more than the left's version of the right wingers who will support candidates regardless of who they are as long as they oppose abortion, gay marriage bans, etc etc etc.

What are you trying to say, grizz-the-hallway? Are you reeeeaaaally so young and stupid, or are you parodying yourself on purpose for our entertainment?

Are you glad that the people who were about to be massacred by Gadaffy were saved by the allied bombing? I was.

That does not mean that Obama has a fvcking clue what he is doing, other than living out his anti-American "Dreams of My Father." He should run for SG of the UN.

Ah, so you are trying to be serious.

What do you think we learned in the article?

...That Obama has a coherent plan? No.

...That the Europeans have a coherent plan? No.

...That we are still getting conflicting messages, obfuscation and lack of clarity, from Obama and the Europeans? Yes.

"...Late Thursday night a senior Obama administration official insisted that NATO had agreed to assume responsibility for the no-fly and “no-drive” zones but said the details remained to be worked out. The official’s statements appeared to contradict those of the secretary-general of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who said in Brussels earlier Thursday that NATO was still considering whether to take on “broader responsibility” for the war..."

You provided evidence that the coalition is incoherent.

However, I will concede that you did catch me in a semantic trap! My choice of the words "falling apart" can hardly be considered appropriate when there has never been a coherent coalition to begin with.

Now, having posted all this negative Nancy stuff, I still hope the Libya thing works out, Gadaffy goes away, we avoid genocide, and the country does not fall into Somalia-like chaos. To envision and acheive this end, I am also willing to suffer the slings and arrows of all the jackasses who think (or will claim) that a successful outcome will have been due to effective leadership on Obama's part.

Results count, but Obama will not be able to claim credit. I do not hope for Obama's failure. But what I honestly see from the Administration is constant failure and ineptitude.

I'm highly skeptical on this one, but will wait to pass judgement. On a side note, anyone remember the cman thread about how we shouldnt help out Japan? Where conks and donks sung kumbaya in defiance of the twisted cman and for doing everything we could to help out our brothers?

Interesting how we can't afford to protect innocent Libyans. Guess it was their choice to be oppressed. :|

There's a difference is what is a humanitarian effort and what is a civil war. If you want better comparables... compare what the US did (or didn't do) in Egypt vs Libya. Sudan vs Libya. Ivory Coast vs Libya.... Japan vs Libya? Seriously?

Doing the right thing and suffering are circumstantial. Like I said, I'm merely pointing out the obvious based on another discussion we all had. You're hard on for trying to nail me with direct comparisons nothwithstanding. :coffee:

But just outta curiosity which crises are you pro-intervention on, Hen?

No, they're not circumstantial. Lumping in natural disasters and civil wars is folly at best.
