I believe there were only two transfer starters on the Blue Hens 2003 NC team.Blue Hen Fanatic wrote:How many Championships have the programs you speak of won? And for that matter, Illinois State? Don't use it as a strategy to build a program that competes yearly for conference and national titles. Programs are built by recruiting kids you'll have on campus in your program for 4 or 5 years.
We recently had this very discussion on our home board. I think we'll open camp this fall with 12-15 FBS/BCS transfers. I looked at the rosters of the four 2010 national semi finalist and they had a total of something like 9 transfers. About 2 per school, seems about right and OK to me.
It just never has looked to me like programs that compete nationally at a very high level year in and year out consistently have a bunch of transfers on the roster. 1 or 2 here and there to fill a specific hole or need.

Find me a national semi-finalist with more than 10 FBS/BCS "down" transfers on their roster.Blue Hen Fanatic wrote:How many Championships have the programs you speak of won? There are web sites with historical rosters readily available.
Transfers are an outstanding way to fill a need or plug a hole, but a poor way to build a foundation for sustained excellence.

good for NDSU, recruiting and retaining high school kids that will be part of your program for 4, hopefully 5 years is how you build a program for solid sustainab;e success.lakesbison wrote:NDSU = 0 *sigh*
I think we're up to 15 "down" transfers on the roster.
That's a bunch.

OSBF you're probably right, I just want to be FBS, so getting FBS transfers is about as close as I'll get this year.

That's why you'll never be FBS, lakes. Nobody who is any good wants to play in the middle of nowhere..lakesbison wrote:NDSU = 0 *sigh*

Re: FBS transfers to FCS
Southern has added two players from Uva. WR Jared Green (son of Redskins great Darrell Green) and LB Jared Detrick.
They also added to players from NAIA (and would have been BCS powerhouse) Lambuth.

Re: FBS transfers to FCS
Western has picked up a couple good transfers.
Emeka Nwankwo-DL Transfer from Notre Dame. Played a decent amount for them over the years.
Martinez Davis CB From Air Force
Myles Daughtry WR from New Mexico (or NM State, not sure)
i believe they also got a special teams guy, a long snapper, from Central Michigan
I also hear we may have one more transfer coming in on defense and a possible offensive lineman
to go along with Theon Dixon from Ball State who was here in the spring that is some talented guys on defense. Now, we just have hope they get coached up.
