JBB wrote:Overshadowing the fact that a very experienced and talented NDSU Football squad is honing its skills to a national championship level this spring is the talk coming out of UNI. Its a big deal in Fargo.

It seems their Head Coach Mark Farley is more than a little upset with the hiring of Chris Klieman, an assistant at UNI. In a recent home town interview Farley is accusing NDSU of trying to buy wins:

“They try to find out what the heck you’re doing from inside, and they try to buy their way to some wins, A lot of times people try to take what you have thinking they can replant it. Well guess what? You can’t have UNI.”

Farley is of course a coach watching his empire erode not only from funding problems but also the persistent and nagging realization that the Football Conglomerate at NDSU is rapidly changing the pecking order in the previously staid MFVC.

This sort of und-like knucklehead babbling is sure to fire up the fans and fill the Fabulous Fargo Dome for the UNI game, which of course is a bonus for The NDSU Program. It will put a heck of a lot more money in the coffers of the Conglomerate which of course will only insure the changing of the guard in the MVFC all the sooner.

There are advantages to having the largest program in the conference.

Farley owns NDSU, of course they're going to hire away the guy that can help make the beatings stop. I'm surprised nobody called Child Protective Services on Klieman after the last UNI/NDSU game and had him arrested for abuse and molestation.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

The perfect defense for libel (preferred spelling) or slander is the truth. I would take up any issues you may have about the UNI coach and his paranoia with these guys:

Listen, its only natural for a lesser program like ndsu to try to dip their feet in the pool of greatness that is UNI. I mean, after the way that UNI has abused ndsu on field the last 3 years, physically and athletically embarrassing them, what else were they supposed to do to try and keep up with UNI?

The reports out of Fargo are painting a picutre of a very good football team. The QB spot has Brock Jensen taking first team snaps with Jose Mohler and Esley Thorton alternating second spot.

Wide recievers are looking good. Unfortunately Justin Howard has been suspended for violation of team rules but youth is stepping up. HIghly recruited redshirt freshmen Zach Vraa and Trevor Gebhart are leading the way. Ryan Smith is a strong third man. Justin Howard will hopefully be back. Speed is evident.

One injury so far. Offensive tackle Jeff Jerve is on crutches but its thought to be minor.

Voightlander is looking good punting the ball.

This is the second spring with the new team and a dynasty is in the making.

As the childishness continues the real football team is continuing to improve. Its not all perfect and The BISON are facing challenges in the take over of this division. Its clear to see the complacency in the way some of these fans from the lessor programs behave. The division is staid and the former front runners are showing arrogance. Its all confidence in the NDSU camps and a perfect set up for the NDSU Football Conglomerate.
based on reports from BISON Media Blog wrote:4 Bison regulars are on the sidelines: Justin Howard suspension, Mike Sigers grades, Warrin Holloway and Brandon Jemison injuries.

Howard and Holloway are Wide outs leaving us pretty thin, The young guys have never caught a ball in the regular season, but they have a lot of potential. Its a point of concern in this years National Championship hunt.

Sigers is a running back and Jemison a LB. Both very good players should be on the field this fall.

Coach Bohl and some player interviews highlight this video:

http://www.gobison.com/SportSelect.dbml ... PSID=11850" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Note the snow in the background. The turf installed a couple years ago is keeping it rolling. If we didnt have it the Herd would be in the mud.
http://bisonmedia.areavoices.com/
Its a disappointment that Howard is on the sidelines because of rules violation. I had hoped this was behind us after the disastrous problems in the recent past. The program is back on track. The 2 lost years are behind us. Team moral is good and things appear to be choesive and focused. Last year we talked about how important productive practices are. The BISON really gelled about mid season showing some flashes earlier especially out of the chute with the win at Kansas. It looks to me like the team is going to build off last years successes. I hope Howard gets back on track.

There is no questioning the fact there is excitement surrounding the NDSU Football Team. The defense is strong, fast and physical. The D backs are making great strides. But the focus of todays questions surround these issues:

1) QB. Do the BISON have the answer? I believe they do. Jose Mohler has proven to be workmanlike and effective. Brock Jensen has shown his youth but has also shown leadership ability, poise and execution. Thorton and Perez are capable and available with Esley Thorton showing the most upside. There is experience and talent there and it will become obvious experience has worked its miracles.

2) Coaching. There are still questions surrounding the offensive coordinator position. For the most part I feel this is just talk. Our game plan has to be worked and developed around the talent we have. It has to be customized for each of the defenses we will see. Our greatest upside is at QB and experience will be the key. We will see the greatest overall improvement at this position leveraging the tremendous talent and strength we have along the front and probably the best overall group of running backs in the division. Those factors will quiet the coaching criticism.

3) Wide Receiver. The NDSU Football Conglomerate has recruited some great talent at WR but unfortunately these 4 star guys have not seen the field in game conditions. They are young. They are good. The discipline issue with one of the veterans is problematic but has opened the door for the young guys looking for a chance to excel. This is a position that will develop all season long. We will see the good, bad and the ugly but the trend is up. The wide-outs are going to emerge as very capable and will help both the QB position and the running game.

There are very few questions on the defense. This is a rugged bunch of football players. Last season they set the mark high. This season we will see improvement and an improved offense is going to leverage their performance by keeping them off the field. I think we will see some of the largest winning margins in some time. The BISON are ready to roll. Pads are on tomorrow.

release to general public:

The Golden Arm Committe is advising all NDSU fans to pick up tickets ASAP. This game is a guaranteed sell out. Top prices are now above $300 for choice seats.

From todays Sid Hartman column in the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
the hottest Gophers football ticket is the North Dakota State game and that Ticket King had its lowest Gophers hockey ticket profit in 20 years.

Reports are pouring in from the lavish NDSU practice facilities where The BISON are putting on a display of football prowess. Pads were on today.

The word is not caution. There seems to be no uncertainty about how good the BISON defense is going to be this season. This is just spring ball but you cant hide talent. The national championship game is still months away but some of the folks phoning in are unabashed in how good the team is looking right now.

The offensive backfield with Sam Ojuri back is going to be hard to stop. We already have DJ McNorton, a far more durable back, and certainly as talented as some of the capable running backs NDSU faced last season including professional hopeful Taiwan Jones. Now Ojuri will bring a second dimension and its hard to imagine a better 1-2 punch than these two fellows. McNorton is in his Sr. year. What is exciting about him is the fact he has gotten better every year. He should be among the nations best again this season.

Brock Jensen and Esley Thorton are starting to establish themselves as the top two at the QB position with Jensen leading the way. QB has been a concern since before the EWU fiasco but is now starting to look like a strength.

There are no punches being pulled and modesty is hard to find. A great football team is emerging on the Northern Plains that should blaze quit a trail through the ranks of the FCS this season. The vast NDSU Football Conglomerate is putting together a masterpiece!! :twocents:

One of the topics of conversation in Fargo is how athletic and conditioned the BISON Football team is. As they like to say,
"They look good coming off the bus".
There are 19 players that are 6-foot-4 or taller in spring ball. As Kramer put it, the days of the 6-foot, 300-pound offensive lineman are probably over.
Take a look at defensive end Coulter Boyer from a moderate distance and he looks like a lot of other players on the field. Get him on the sideline around dozens of high school coaches on hand for the annual Bison clinic on Friday, and he looks like a 6-4, 248-pound monster.
Boyer said. “We pride ourselves on being a physical team.”
Size figures to be a strength for The BISON Football team. Read about it here:

There may be some news on the remarkable development of the NDSU Football squad later today. As the BISON continue to learn and maximize practice time with hard work and focus on the fundamentals of the game, college studies and physical and mental health the foundation for a championship dynasty is clearly in place in Fargo.

As far as I can see the Big Dakota 3 Schools are going to be in a dogfight but clearly NDSU has the advantage over both. SDSU has been a worthy competitor but the BISON have the Marker and that isnt likely to change. USD continues to struggle with its association with the GWC and lack of meaningful competition but that will change when they transition into the nationally respected MVFC.

Expect big things and enjoy yourself in Montana. The sun is setting on that program and Cal Poly should be a worthy competitior for them in the new Big Sky.

Shit. Thats a wrap everyone. Pack up your shit, NDSU gets the title. Don't even bother playing them, it would be as futile as taking on the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. Maybe we could get a hockey team to avoid the juggernaut that is the Bison.

I like the Bison pride, but the sun is setting on Montana? Really? After one year that they don't make the playoffs. I don't understand where you're coming up with that. Teams have a down year once and a while. I wouldn't mind 7-4 as a down year. :coffee:
