You'd have to be 70 to watch the Byron Nelson. I love golf, but would never dream of wasting 5 minutes on that tourney unless I was trying to squeeze in a Sunday nap.

Sunday's final round on CBS earned a 12.0 overnight rating and 25 share, up 36 percent from last year's 8.8/21 for Angel Cabrera's win in a two-hole playoff.
That's a 12.0 not a 1.2

Good news though is that in a decade or two the majority of people who watch golf will be dead.

My dad turns 80 in May. He just completed an addition to his house. By himself.

Pretty much my point. On the golf spectrum, the Byron Nelson is nothing, so you can imagine what it's like when you compare it to all sports.
In this country. In Europe it is king. Why do you even care?

My fault on the mix and match post. The top was about the Byron Nelson, the bottom was the Masters.

I don't really rate what I watch, if it's a sporting event and looks interesting, and I have the time, I'll watch it. I am comfortable with the size of mine.

I still get chills watching that.
I know everyone and their dog hates Tiger, but he's still my favorite athlete in the world. I hope he turns it around and wins this year.

It's managed by racist, old misogynistic assholes but it's such a nice golf course.

The Masters is great! The Open is greater.
(kinda like the Superbowl vs. The conference championships)

Sports guys were talking about this yesterday. Everyone agrees the Open is tougher and technically more important, but the Masters is a better event on TV and carries a certain mistique of its own. You know the course, it's at a time when much of the country isn't green yet, it's the start to the golf season for many, it is so well produced on TV... just a special event.

Agreed on the Masters, but which "Open" were you talking about as being tougher?

You kidding? There's no contest. The Open Championship is only difficult when the weather is shitty. -13, -14, -18... as winning scores?

I never said the Open Championship was more difficult. I still think it's a better championship though.

Older, not better. If I had to put them in order...

A little factoid some dude on DC ESPN radio just mentioned that I thought was cool:
All the beverage cups, hot dog wrappers, etc. at Augusta National are green so they don't show up on TV if someone litters.

Meh, I've never noticed trash at any golf event (except some of the fans).

I heard you were hosting it the other day. Congrats.
