HACKENSACK, N.J. — Two Roman Catholic school workers from New Jersey have pleaded not guilty to charges of having sex with female students during a high school's class trip to Germany.

Thirty-one-year-old Artur Sopel was vice president of operations at Paramus Catholic High School, and 27-year-old Michael Sumulikoski was a substitute teacher and assistant football coach until they were suspended last month.

Sumulikoski is accused of having sex with one female student on the February trip.

Sopel is accused of engaging in sexual activities with two female students in Germany and having sex with another female student in 2010.

Both are charged with sexual assault, child endangerment and hindering apprehension.

Tommy Pitts, the pastor at the Midway Assembly of God Church, was arrested on April 1 on a slew of rape and sex abuse charges against three children.

KOCO does not identify victims of rape and therefore is not offering any further information that could lead to the identity of the victims.

Police said Pitts was arrested on 15 counts of first-degree rape, 15 counts of rape by instrumentation, 20 counts of lewd or indecent acts with children under 16 and 20 counts of forcible sodomy. He is on suicide watch, police said.

Uh, no. The INDIVIDUAL incidents are obscure. Many of these have not made the major news. That's not to say the incidents aren't foul. They most certainly are. My objection is to a proven troll dredging up new ones every day. Certainly there's something ELSE that can be covered, like the good the RC church does worldwide. Emphasizing the foul at the expense of the good does nobody any good.
