Well, with my wife's work schedule I am home with the daughter, so unfortunately no  (thumbs down NOT for hanging with my daughter, but for not being at the Xcel). But, at least I can watch online. Hoping to get some tickets for the championship on Saturday, assuming UND gets there.....

Duluth beat Notre Dame 4-3. Now hopefully the Sioux do their part.

Oh, and Duluth beat Notre Dame 4-3 in the first game, behind the strength of 3 PP goals. Good game. Hopefully we'll have an all WCHA final.....

EDIT: Willie beat me to it......

Another year, another hot goalie that the Sioux run into. They are definitely controlling the play, but just can't get anything in the back of the net......

Wow! ButtHockey!!! What an exciting game.

Its hard to believe that with all the investment, all the politics, all the talk and bragging that UND can never clinch it. How many times in the past decade have they gone "deep into the playoffs" only to fail?

The game was clean, the officials stayed at arms length. Michigan clearly had the game plan to neutralize what had been the big offense in "teh hockies" this year.

This is a triumph for Big 10 hockey. Obviously that will become the premier hockey league in the country. Its also a feather in the cap of D2 Minnesota Duluth. They carry the banner for the "State of hockey". Go Bulldogs!!

How many times has a D2 program won the football national championship and the hockey national championship? I think it could be a first?

There arent that many hockey teams. How hard can it be when you claim to be the best, have the best and recruit Canada? Well, its harder than it looks. Ask Michigan and Duluth. There are 2 class hockey programs.

Yes ask those 2 schools because certainly no one would ask your dumb ass.

All you do is bash other schools. Guess what...NDSU's shit stinks too. I had to smell it for 4 years. Yay for cow college.

From the amount of game I actually watched, the Sioux just looked off. Close shots, just a dominant goalie tonight.

I like UMD and Michigan. Great hockey programs in a very limited sport when compared to the major sports in the NCAA.

From the und board:
The Pheonix wrote:Time to can Hakstol. He just can't get it done in the big game. Go Dogs!
UND is a program that plays nobody during the regular season, builds up a head of steam and falls flat on their face in the playoffs. This is just another example of their inability to win a big game. The WCHA is now on the threshold of becoming an also-ran back-water league. The Big 10 schools are splitting for their own league. Its the end of borrowed glory.

We have heard nothing from UND except how great they are, the arena is the best, the nickname is most recognized logo in the world and on and on and on. This was just another year for them. Get out of the easy games only to lose to the real powerhouses. The charade is over the Big 10 is gone.

At least it was a clean game, not decided by the officials. The better team actually won. All of EWU games were tainted by official "mix ups".

Yeah, and that's EXACTLY what ndsu fans have done since moving up to FCS, and you've accomplished FAR less than UND has in hockey.

I also love the fact that you manage to work in a crack about EWU in a thread that has ZERO to do with them, or football. You're either a virtuoso troll or just a complete jackoff.

Why am I not surprised that right as soon as the game is over and the Sioux lose, JBB shows up? Oh, and I believe that UND did have the toughest schedule in the country......so they didn't load up on cupcakes as you imply sir.....

It was a well played game - Michigan's goalie was absolutely lights out, and sometimes that's all you need in the playoffs. Sioux controlled most of the play during the game, but just couldn't get anything in the net. Tough loss to swallow, but the sun will rise tomorrow and I'll still be proud of what the Fighting Sioux accomplished this year. Just wish they had two more wins to finish out the season....

The sioux had a good year. Being number one, even if it is just hockey, is impressive. With that being said, I'm happy that they lost. ;)

Tough is a relative term. How many schools actually play "teh hockies"? Ill guess less than 60. Of those how many have ever been to the final 4? 20? So you see a tough schedule is relative.

Butt hockey Hambone, I didnt even know about the game until I turned on the TV and went past it scrolling through channels. The scroll bar said "Teh College Hockies" or something very similar. At that time there were 8 minutes left in the third period. Had I known there was some kind of "hockies" tournament going on I may have posted here earlier. I have a nephew at Minnesota Duluth and would have cheered them on.

Saturday will be fun. Now that we know about it, we are going to have a little party and cheer on the Bull Dogs. What a thrill for a D2 school to find itself on the ice with a Charter Member of the Big 10 Hockey League, the toughest "hockies" league in the land, for all the marbles!

Crazy speed eh?

Ps. I was impressed with the fact I worked in 2 hyphenated phrases back-to-back! Dont see that too often. The point about the officiating is valid. They stood back and let them play, at least for the 8 minutes I saw. There was an obvious holding call but they sure didnt take the game into their own hands and decide it "in the booth" so-to-speak.

Congrats to the Wolverines. The Sioux outshot them 2-1, but just couldn't seem to get it past the goalie. The second and third periods were played primarily in the Michigan end. Tough loss.

JBB you need some serious mental help. I understand there is very good mental health clinic in Willmar. I took the time to look up the number for you. Here is the link.. http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals ... og-6612060

These are the people that need help, and the reason I am keeping a very close eye on you:

From todays Star Tribune:
Friday (And then a UND fan punched a hole in the Xcel wall) edition: Wha' Happened?

Image

After Michigan scored an empty-netter in the final minute to essentially seal the game, he stood up and pounded the wall high above him. Then he did it again, producing that hole you see in the picture. And then they left.
http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/119470934.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This one is particularly disturbing and a good example of the kind of UND fan behavior seen at most games:

As a Michigan and NDSU fan... the first time I saw this picture I laughed for a good five minutes without stopping...

the only thing better was wearing my NDSU gear and walking around near the X after last nights game with a shit-eating grin on my face...

(yep, it was dickish, and I was rubbing it in... and no, I don't see a problem with that)

Man-oh-man, you would think that UND fan of little brain would be here trying to tear away at you TTBF?

It was the greatest game of "teh hockies" Ive ever seen, at least the 8 minutes I saw.

Lets talk about teh hockies and the nations "toughest schedule" shall we?

28% of the teams make it to the National Tournament. All you have to do is get into the top third and you are in EVERY YEAR! This is not a difficult sport to appear good at no matter how expensive your skating rink is. After that if you win TWO games, often against some of the smallest teams in the country, which is what the WCHA is, you are in the Frozen Four. Not a daunting task for UND. Its a shortcut, the lazy mans way.

Hakstol is a a coach that cant win the big games. Thats ok with the UND fans he tries hard and takes care of the little things, like making the tournament and getting his team in a position to play a real hockey team. If he couldnt do that he should be fired, but how many times does he get a pass ? I think the first year he doesnt make the tournament is the year they let him go.

UND is a school that has been gifted the best of everything hockey. When it comes time to earn it though, they come up short. Their training facilities are BETTER than many NHL clubs. They rehab NHL players in GF for crying-out-loud.

I know, I know, its my fault, but is this a proper response from their head coach?

Image

Another more animated look at a true UND fan like geauxsioux and a sample of what the BSC has coming their way as soon as the UND fans are over their "grateful" bowing:

Image

 stay classy UND!

What do you mean stay classy UND? Look at the fucking retard for Michigan doing it back. Good athletes would have the self control to just let it go.

You mean the Michigan player? I dont see anything but restraint. But hey, if you think that UND fan is ok and justified in his uncivil behavior because you think a Michigan player is offended by the assault it says a lot about you too. There is something wrong with a fan that has such little restraint. Punching a hole in the wall is also classy. Did the Michigan players do that too to make it all OK? I dont get it. You must be a UNI fan I guess?

Stay classy UND, and coach, nice finger.
