houndawg,

Dynasties are built from the bottom up, the low point is the beginning. We are in year four of the MVFC but we have been playing the game for well over 100 years too. All a dynasty does is measure the cycles of a successful program that rises to national championship caliber. This cycle hit bottom a couple years ago when we went 3-8. We were only a couple years past consecutive seasons of a number 1 national ranking. That cycle ended abruptly with some internal problems but things have turned around.

Sincerely,

JBB

That's right! That was when you brought 18 starters back from highly rated team and before the season even started pronounced yourselves the best team in the league and probable national champions!. nod: Who could forget that?

And by "internal problems", I assume you mean D1 competition? :coffee:

The MVC will be much tougher at the top this year, the Bison could be better than last years team and struggle to make, or not make, 7-4. UNI owns them and they have Minnesota and SIU on the road. That makes their games with both ISUs the crucial ones for mid-pack supremacy and they can't go to sleep on MSU, WIU, or YSU.

I love HD cuz he has the ability to look around instead of just at his own thing. This is the thing that could/will keep NDSU from progressing. I can see UNI, WIU, & especially SIU coming back real fucking hungry this year. There are gonna be some real motivated teams in the MVFC this year that really want to re-exert themselves.

Any fan base is gonna be hopeful at this point, it's only natural for NDSU fans to be hungry after making it as far as they did last year. But the discounting of the teams like UNI & SIU after having the down year and not seeing that they may come back with a serious vengeance is where you run into the wall JBB.

What's it matter though. If NDSU does fail in a few games then JBB has a pocket full of excuses to cover any boasting he does now so he can lay it on as thick as he want to right now. That's the windfall of excuses...not being accountable for your horse shit.

On a side note. Every time I see JBB try to get in a mental battle with hounder, or pretty much anyone else I see this scene from The Matrix with JBB playing the part of Mr. Anderson and hounder as Neo.

Poor dumb squat.......... :ohno: I know he's trying his best but I think he really ought to stay over at AGS for a while until he can raise his game some... :coffee:

If he had a lick of sense he would have noted that in spite of their problems last year, SIU still had the top defense in the conference statistically, in spite of playing three FR DBs who gave up a ton of big plays, and who won't be FRs next year and will be rejoined by three DBs who would have started last year if not for injuries, including an AA FS.Obviously, UNI will be loaded and after what they did to the Bison last year, it's hard to see where JaBBer is coming from. WIU lost a lot and will be contending with NDSU and the ISUs for mid-pack honors.

SIU the best statistical defense? Based on one stat yes(yards given up) but they were quite a bit behind NDSU and UNI in the category that matters, points given up. Don't be making excuses about young players playing and injuries. NDSU started two freshman in our secondary and the team had multiple key injuries on the defensive side of the ball and we just filled the gaps.

UNI did kick our ass last year, that said we were a very different team at the end of the season. UNI gets some thanks for that, that mauling they gave us forced the coaching staff to reshuffle the OL and that gave some younger players a chance to step up.

The only thing I will say about next year is that the Valley is about as wide open as I can remember. I could see SIU, UNI or NDSU winning the league. YSU could be a darkhorse.

UNI won the conference last year with a team that returned something like 8 starters and broke in 10 new starters on offense.

This year UNI returns 18 starters from the team that won the conference last year.

No need to go lakesbison on me, the point being that our worst team in a decade has some pretty strong positives going into 2011 season. Everybody seems to think that SIU is finished forever after missing the playoffs for the first time in nine years. Taint so, folks.

I think you may be starting to take some of the JBB type posters to heart.

I think the people that feel that SIU is done are in a pretty small minority.

So far so good with NDSU spring ball but this kind of talk has no place in BISON Football:
WyoBisonMan wrote:I love it.....this is what a rivalry is. Hate and jealousy. A school like UNI that knows they are on the down hill slide.....and their struggle watching the new force in the conference rise.....and the defections start. Hell, it is a little like Libya...http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthr ... 467&page=2
We have a good rivalry with UNI. It doesnt matter what their coach says. Competition, the excitement of the game, following the teams, they are all part of it, but hate, jealousy? Come on Bisonville Mod, the things you said in that post have no place in Bison Football.

SIU is a good program, beset with injuries last year and 1 and done for most playoff appearances. UNI is another team that doesnt do well post season. But certainly they dont drag the conference down.

I have been correctly evaluating BISON football for a long time.

Practice continues at NDSU as the BISON prepare for the upcoming season. Here is another video, mostly player and coach interviews with some highlights.

Haha houndman. U seem like a good guy with a horsecrap coach, kills kids are almost gone, your current one can't recruit the speed or.athletes you need.

Uni is a headcase, they can't win in the playoffs, and.farley is already crying like a bitch.

It's gonna be a season to remember, last year we snuck in...this year we kick the dam door down.

Spring ball is cruising just fine, the lb and db's are legit and 2-3 bonafide stars at running back.

Well, you're half right: I am a hell of a good guy.

I really don't get this thing you have about Lennon can't coach, you usually seem smarter than that, or maybe having JBB around makes everybody else look smarter.......

I admit that Lennon is from an area not known for football but that don't mean he can't coach. In fact, of the three seasons he's coached in the MVC, he has been selected Coach of the Year by his colleagues twice.

In his rookie season at SIU he inherited a talented group of underclassmen recruited by Kill to play the 4-3 and successfully converted them to a 3-4, winning the MVC while playing most of the year without a blitz package. Successfully installed a new offense, too.

For an encore he went 8-0 in the MVC, first time it's been done, took the conference championship again and was voted COY again.

Last year we struggled, as would any team that loses three All-Americans, but they'll be back this fall, ready to go.

And we can't forget that it is all relative - i.e., for SIU, 4-4 in MVC play was certainly disappointing, otoh, it was a high-water mark for the Bison.

Hey Lakes, see you ran into the small minds. I've been devoting my time to training them, but they are stubborn!

Its becoming obvious The BISON are going to have one of, if not the best running attack in the FCS next season. There is talk that Sam Ojuri is good enough to take the starting spot from DJ McNorton. I dont believe that is true. McNorton, as you will remember, is a terrific back. Overall better than the EWU Canadian football hopeful Tiwain Jones.

DJ is the real thing. He is a step slower than TJ but far more physical, has more moves and certainly more durable. If folks are high enough on Ojuri to think he is as good as DJ McNorton there is only one conclusion: The BISON Backfield is NFL quality. What makes it even sweeter is the O line. They will lead the way with phenom and NFL ready Billy Turner and Austin Richards leading the pack.

Ive read the babble about Lennon. Luckiest coach I have ever seen. I would get used to last year more the the Jerry Kill season. He has a terrible playoff record and looked ridiculous last time he was in Fargo. He couldn't control himself or his players and the BISON administered physical punishment all afternoon to the amusement of the crowd as Lennon hopped around yelling and shouting at the refs, the crowd and his own players. Great scene. Really not ready for prime time.

The other thing some of you guys forget is that past performance is no guarantee of future performance. SIU is going to field a bunch of hyped up injury cases, UNI has it usual band of thugs and NDSU has an FBS caliber line-up. The big FCS game for us is UNI and its in Fargo. The SIU game wont mean much, win or lose. Besides it doubtful their highly recruited tin cups will stay healthy.

Im with Lakes all the way. He understands NDSU football and knows the potential of the program better than the illuminate over on BVille. He is in BISON CITY, they are in the village.
