Well, I guess we're veering off topic again but this is a good place to make a certain point.

One of the biggest differences between George W. Bush and Barak Obama is that George W. Bush didn't care about perception. He was not concerned with polls, image, etc. He just did what he thought was best to do whether you and/or I agreed with it or not. No pretense.

Barak Obama is extremely image and perception conscious.

Well, that's a bit much. But one thing he DOESN'T need is to be President.

I mean...he might think he needs that.

But he isn't qualified. He never was. And people should have known that before they pulled the lever for him.

And it's not because he's Black. It's because he isn't qualified.

The sad thing is he's probably going to be elected again.

And if you're wondering: Yes. George W. Bush, going in, was more qualified to be President than Barack Obama was.

Shit's old. You need a new schtick.

Obama is the most qualified human being on earth along with George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter for the presidency in 2012.

I sure hope the "HE'S NOT QUALIFIED" broken records will vote for him in 2012 since whoever he's running against will be less qualified.

So I guess the idea is that you elect someone who is totally unqualified for the job then they flounder around for 4 years. But by virtue of having 4 years of experience in the job they're now more qualified than almost anybody else because very few people have had 4 years of experience in that job.

I suppose there's something to that.

But it's becoming more and more apparent that this guy has no clue. He's just a Liberal (or progressive, if you prefer that term) idealogue who couldn't function as manager of a Burger King much less a country. I'm wondering when we're going to get to the point where even you guys on the left are going to realize that.

Agreed,
I was going to chime in similarly
He's allowed big corporations to write legislation (Just like Bush did)
He's allowed big corporations to expand profit from wars (just like Bush)
He folded when confronted by Wall Street (Bush part 2)
HE folded when confronted by the privately held entity called The Fed (Bush part 3)
He's expanded the roll of government while protecting major corporations interests (Bush etc. etc.)

He is PERFECT for the job...
He will be re-elected easily - he is not at all what America needs - but he is "America" in a very real way

Well that was hyperbole and the truth is my problem is with his philosophical outlook. If he had the philosophical outlook of Walter Williams I'd be fine with him in terms of ability and experience.

Like the latest thing is calling tax deductions "tax expenditures;" as though the government is "spending" money by not taking as much as it might from some people. It's not really a new spin. Democrats have been doing that sort of thing for a while now...refering to tax cuts as "spending." But the Obama Administration actually coining a terminlogy like "tax expenditures" kind of pushes it forward a little more.

What do you think the chances are that Obama has a valid US birth certificate but it says the word "muslim" somewhere on it, and it was a calculated gamble not to release it, given the anti-muslim sentiment in this country?

The term "tax expenditures" didn't originate with Obama. It's been around for a long time. We'll see what BHO has to say about the concept today.

That's pretty gentle. I did some web searches on the terminology today and saw that it's been around for about half a century and also that even Paul Ryan is using the term in his proposal. I expected to get really nailed.

I disagree with using that terminology. Unless it's a tax credit that results in actually giving somebody money (i.e., they get a tax credit that exceeds what their tax liability so that the government actually gives them money such as with the earned income tax credit), it's not an expenditure whether it's purpose is to influence behavior or not. A reduction in revenue is not an expenditure. Something like the mortgage interest deduction is DEFINITELY not an expenditure. By happenstance, I learned today that the Supreme Court just recently narrowly ruled that "tax expenditures" are not spending (supreme-court-says-tax-expenditures-arent-government-spending). Not that I'd agree that it's spending if it'd gone the other way. It's NOT spending (with the exception mentioned above).

In any case, the philosophy Obama represents was manifested again today when he said "“There’s nothing serious about a plan that claims to reduce the deficit by spending a trillion dollars on tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires."

Allowing people to keep their own money is NOT spending. Why not just take the difference between the combined incomes of all Americans and how much government collects in taxes and say the resulting quantity is all "spending?"

It's the mentality holding that everything ultimately belongs to the government.

This scar is actually a remnant of a procedure known as a "Kenyan Circumcision". In this procedure a part of the brain is removed to accentuate collective redistribution of other's resources to the exclusion of individual liberty - a basic function of tribal Kenya.

Two curious side-effects are the complete inability to vocalize a coherent thought without the use of a teleprompter and a strange affinity to bitter, huge-assed women who curiously want to ensure tribal children are forced to eat the same food that puts some much junk in their own trunks.

"allowing people to keep their money" is as much spin as "tax expenditures". Especially when so many people who have accumulated that money have done so at the expense of government. BTW, in case you didn't know, government actually is an expense. :coffee:
