I have a soft spot for Fargo, but I'm under no delusions about what it is... it's a boring ass town where you have to make your own fun - which is fine for a college town - and i hear it's better than when i was there (there's life in downtown now) but it's still a ghost town after 7 pm

i know u live in st paul but to say fargo is boring is down right stupid. the downtown here is pretty good for a city like fargo. it's packed on the weekends and can be a pretty good time

NoDakistanis get reflexively defensive about it - but the fact remains. the sidewalks roll up at 7pm. the best you can do is drink at one of a handful of bad bars and if you're lucky see an old movie at the Fargo Theater... (hell, even Phil Wong's is closed)

There are a few more bars downtown and more places to eat, unique places not crappy chains. Playmakers has turned into the Hub, it is kind of cool being four different bars under one roof and the Venue which has some decent concerts and other things. The Scheels Center is a nice place to watch a hockey game, while junior hockey isn't the NHL it isn't bad if you like hockey. There are more things to do, most of it centers around drinking but at least things are going in the right direction.
