Thanks for the updates lakes. Im impressed with Elsey Thortons performance. Would have liked to see more highlights. You have to think that position is still wide open with the front runners now Thorton and Jensen.

What about that run by Hudson! He can change direction, breake tackles and outrun guys! He is a converted corner too.

Its going to be a strong defense. We have some outstanding talent. Im liking our chances against the Gophers more and more, especially with some of the ridiculous crap Kill is pulling. He might be the one eyed jack but he is starting to show the other side of his face. I think he is going to have resentment issues to deal with.

Things are looking good, but one thing not mentioned. The depth issues are fading at most positions as Coach Bohl continues to load up on the talent.

There is concern with Preston Evans, NDSU linebacker that injured his hand. He is one of the outstanding LB in the FCS and will not be able to use the hand in workouts for about 12 weeks. This may set him back buy limiting his routine.

Right now depth is the word. At almost every position NDSU has talent stacked. This is what Bohl has been building over the past couple years. Its been an up and down proposition, especially at QB, but now the team is loaded. We have 2 starting LBackers out with injury and there is no apparent let down in play. We have a great lineup at running back and now Wes Hudson, converted D back, is showing he is ready for some snaps. The QB position is finally set and 3 deep with 2 excellent redshirt freshman.

Big worry might be Tight End. Matt veldman has struggled in realizing his potential. He could be a force and with a good year - look out.

The O line seems stable, talented but thin.

WR is lacking in experience but looking like the young guys are ready to step up to prime time. This position has been an area of concern but the coaches seem to have found the players.

The strength of the team is going to be the D line and linebackers. Get used to seeing lots of QB sacks and tackles for a loss. The big play will be a rarity against this bunch especially with the talent in the defensive backfield. The long ball wont be easy to get.

The BISON will once again be a running team but the passing game is on the up swing. That is going to be the big difference between this years squad and last year. There wont be any stacking the box and teams are going to learn that the hard way in the early going.

Looks like another season of one TD per game from the offense as teams dare the Bison to throw the ball from behind a sack-prone line to slow, not-so-agile, receivers. But I do like your chances of breaking .500 in the MVC for the first time. :thumb:

Yea, I remember how effective SIU was last season, of course all the good players were hurt, but still, they managed 6 points off 2 FG. The 3 sacks SIU got were impressive too, of course the 4 NDSU got were also very impressive as well. Holding the BISON to 21 pts, as banged up as your team was, is also something you should be bragging about. The Salukis had a great season dont you think?

6 pts off 342 yds was a great afternoon for the Salukis. The best they could have hoped for.

Last year, SIU had its worst conference record in nearly a decade, and that still equaled NDSU's best finish ever in the conference.

They pretty much had their way with the Bison on both sides of the ball, but we don't get points for beating the stuffing out of your lines. I believe the offensive juggernaut that is the Bison had what, a couple hundred yards of offense against a bunch of underclassmen, a fluke TD on a busted play and and blocked punt. If we'd been in the playoffs we would have won the NC easy. :coffee:

:rofl: :rofl:

Just under 300 yds, 250 or so if memory serves me well. Fluke play, are you talking about bill fette or the NDSU/SIU game? How many excuses do you have? :rofl:

Next.....

Ps. NDSU was almost all underclassman and they are all back again

Nothing on practice today. Lakes is permantly banned from BV so that board is going to be less interesting. Lakes is a top fan. MIght be time to start up http://www.bisonsports.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; again? Here is a look at NDSUs 2010/11 schedule with some editorial comments. The games in bold are makers-or-breakers. Win them and the season is a success no matter what happens:

Sat, Sep 03 Lafayette @ Fargo, N.D.: Expecting a good game and a BISON win

Sat, Sep 10 Saint Francis (Pa.) @ Fargo, N.D.: Dont know much about these guys but the UND fans say we booked a cupcake. What do they know about football?

Sat, Sep 24 NDSU BISON @ Minneapolis, Minn. Big game to settle the rubber match of the modern era. I have my tickets, 4 on the 50. It will be interesting to hear how much The Capt'n gets for his tickets!

Sat, Oct 01 Illinois State (Homecoming) * @ Fargo, N.D.: I expect a close contest. The kind of game you have to win

Sat, Oct 08 NDSU BISON * @ Carbondale, Ill.: This team fumbles a lot and has a lot of inuries and plays with a bunch of underclassman. Lennon won some kind of coach of the year thing and Obama won the Nobel Peace prize each as meaningful as the other.

Sat, Oct 15 Missouri State * @ Fargo, N.D.: Games in Fargo and the BISON have a score to settle

Sat, Oct 22 NDSU BISON (Dakota Marker) * @ Brookings, S.D.: I think its 10 in a row in basketball time to get the football streak going. Ill be at this one.

Sat, Oct 29 Northern Iowa (Harvest Bowl) * @ Fargo, N.D.: Sooner or later we have to beat these guys. They are the big challenge and this is the Harvest Bowl. Have the BISON ever lost a harvest bowl? Ill be at this one.

Sat, Nov 05 NDSU BISON * @ Terre Haute, Ind.: This is just like the Ill State game. The kind of game that can ruin your season.

Sat, Nov 12 Youngstown State * @ Fargo, N.D.: Im worried about the Peguins. These guys can recruit and they are building the program back to its former glory. Talk about bubbling under! All their losses were by a whisker last year and now they have a little experience under their belt. Its a worrisome game.

Sat, Nov 19 NDSU BISON * @ Macomb, Ill.: I thought they were one of the best teams NDSU played last year. This could be the decider for the Herd and its on the road. We havent had much luck down there, but its always fun and they are always top notched competitors.

The Golden Eagle Convocation Committee has confirmed that the 2011 EAGLES, Savage predators of the Sky, are ahead of schedule in their campaign to once again reign supreme above all, confirming what all have feared as truth; the EAGLE DYNASTY is upon us. The wise old sage Haliaeetus has been seen preening his immaculate plumage on the top of the Colossal Cheney Water Tower, a sign of great things to come. Bow down to his magnificence.

Im liking Screaming Eagles spirit. He is finally getting on the right track.

Speaking of track, your offer of a wager comes to mind:
Horse sense is a good judgment which keeps horses from betting on people. ~W.C. Fields
Same goes for football. However my predication on dynasty and national championships still stands. I presume that is what you are keen to wager on? :thumb:

Who is Bill Fette anyway? I'm beginning to believe he was made up. Looking at the boxscore;

Officials: Referee: Jack Winter; Umpire: S. DiSangro; Linesman: S. Prigionieri;
Line judge: Jeffrey Cooney; Back judge: George O'Brien; Field judge: Kevin Edwards;
Side judge: M. Plummer;

I don't see no Bill Fette. :coffee:

Oh, and P.S.

The only reason NDSU was even close to pulling off the upset, was because of the blizzard. IIRC, 5 or 6 of the 7 fumbles (only 3 lost) occurred in the second half. :coffee:
