I don't necessarily hate the pick, since OL was definitely a need for us, but I do question not taking Smith. Our secondary was just as brutal as our OL was last season and Smith is (at least in my opinion) a better player, despite the character concerns. I am surprised that when we decided to go for an OL we didn't take Carimi instead...I'm sure the staff knows what they're doing, but I was definitely underwhelmed with the pick. At least we didn't reach and take Mallet or Dalton.

Agreed. I really wanted Jimmy Smith though. What's up with Jimmy Smith's having off the field problems, BTW? Carpenter definitely fills the biggest need, I just hope he's worth it. When they listed his measurables during the selection they incorrectly listed him as 6'3 and 288 or something, when he's 6'4 321, so that had me concerned as well. As long as we're reaching for players, we better pick up Taiwan with our 2nd tomorrow.

I don't necessarily dislike Ponder, but it was way too much of stretch to get him at 12. If that is the guy they wanted, he would more than like have been available for their 2nd round pick. The viQUEENS should have taken Prince Amukamara to sure up the secondary. OR a DE to get to Rodgers and Cutler, with edwards more than likely departing (If we ever get to free agency).
