Packers Picks
Packers Picks
I really like the Packers picks so far. They got OL help which they always need. A KR which they've needed for years and this is one I'm really excited about! Better starting field position for Rogers and crew!!! Can't wait!
Then another running back. We saw what they could do last year when Starks came on. Even a hint of a running game helps them tremendously!
Can't wait for the rest of the rounds................of course the draft is all "paper players" as only time will tell what they will contribute. But so far I really like it!

I too am happy with the Packers picks. Wish Mikel LeShoure (Illinois) would have still been available, but otherwise I can't complain,

Re: Packers Picks
Love them as well. Still need a Linebacker opposite Matthews and can always use more OLine and DLine help. I think we have 5 picks left and we have shown that we can find talent to help us all the way into the 7th round.
Betting all our starters back this year from IR is like having an entire draft class as well. If there is an NFL season, I fully expect the Packers to be the first back to back champs since the Patriots did it

Ya, I think they'll start drafting the defensive side of the ball now. We need a big DT and then LB and DB's. We have a luxery in than we can draft here and let the kids grow into their role and we are still young on defense for the most part.MSUDuo wrote:Love them as well. Maybe the Packers can get Casey Matthews from Oregon next year...would have also loved it if Carimi were still available, but hopefully Taylor fits the system.MSUDuo wrote:Love them as well. Would have loved Carimi or Ingram if either had fallen.

I noticed that immediately after reading this...oh well, I think the class still looks good.MSUDuo wrote:Casey was drafted this year by Philadelphia.grizband wrote: Maybe the Packers can get Casey Matthews from Oregon next year...would have also loved it if Carimi were still available, but hopefully Taylor fits the system.

Lots of trades just to get picks. Looks like they are just throwing the dice to get bodies at the end.

Re: Packers Picks
Not sure what to think of it now...
We got our OLine help. Got a DB. Got LB help. Got our RB and WR help.
But drafted 2 TEs and did nothing for the DLine.
On paper, this draft class doesn't begin to touch any of the last 5 or so drafts. Maybe that will change in 2-4 years...

The last pick was DL. Good coverage and thoughts at http://www.jsonline.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;\packers .MSUDuo wrote:Not sure what to think of it now...

Well, we're the defending SB champs, have a ton of players coming back that were hurt last year. I guess if we can add a bit more depth with a few of our draft picks that would be good. I too am puzzled by drafting two TE'. The 1st one should be a good one but suspect the second may end up as a fullback/special teams or something of that nature. TE is going to be one of the most hotly contested spots in camp. Just hope Finley can play like he did last year and stay healthy!
All in all I'd give them a C+ or B-. Great 1st few picks but who knows after than. But then the draft is the most uncertain thing in sports!
Go Pack Go!!!

Re: Packers Picks
From what I have read, that DE will end up being an OLB. I know Thompson doesn't like to go out in free agency much but maybe they have someone in mind. No clue what our salary cap numbers look like for this next year.VictorG wrote:The last pick was DL. Hell ya we are! Nothing better than being on top right now and having everyone knowing that it wasn't even our best. If we can find a running game, our offense will be that much better and Capers is a freaking genius with what he has done with so little at times. I think ESPN said that at no point at any part of the season did the Packers trail by more than 7 points. Our defense saved our butts more than enough times this year

Re: Packers Picks
I also thought it was a good draft by the Pack, time will tell. Still have a shiatload of players coming back off the IL from last year. I do think Barnett will be gone though and Jackson will leave via free agency. Hopefully there is a season. Detroit is going to be in the running next year, bye bye Vikings.

Re: Packers Picks
From ESPN Insider, Draft Grades
Packers:
Top needs: OT, OLB, DE, OG
Summary: The Packers are clearly confident in the resourcefulness of defensive coordinator Dom Capers. They can score points on anybody, but still went after needs on offense with their first three picks. This team knows success starts with protecting Aaron Rodgers and Sherrod was a player they may have felt lucky to have the chance to pick at No. 32. Cobb is a nice little player that can work the slot and is great in the locker room, and Green is a really good running back not many people have seen. Where I do have a questions is Green Bay comes away with no real help in rushing the passer unless it hits on one of those really late picks. This is a team that needs to limit its dependency on Clay Matthews, but didn't do much to help him. The upshot is this is a team that essentially "drafts" a number of players relegated to the disabled list last year. All in all, not half bad.
Needs: B+
Value: B
Overall: B+
Only 2 teams rated better than them overall, 6 others were also at a B+ grade

Re: Packers Picks
I'm an idiot Victor G. You were right, the Packers last pick was an DL who will actually play on the line. My bad
