NDSU was ranked #1 just a couple years ago. Thats the top and I think NDSU is on the way to returning there.

Couldn't have been a couple of years ago. You were 3-8 a couple years ago.

Must have been before you joined the MVC and got exposed. :coffee:

Must have been 4 yrs ago. At any rate "returning to the top" is the proper expression. As one of the top squads, and most visible teams nationally in the MVFC, I feel NDSU was particularly challenged last year. Finishing the year the highest ranked MVFC team and having gone further in the playoffs than any MVFC team in memory was exciting but nothing new to the fans of the NDSU BISON. This upcoming season is going to be a challenge too.

Jesus, you're a moron.

I guess that would be the case if your "memory" consisted of just last year. :dunce:

In 2005 SIU went to the Quarterfinals (same as NDSU), and UNI went to the National Championship (better than NDSU).

In 2006 SIU again went to the Quarterfinals (same as NDSU), and Yougstown State went to the Semifinals (better than NDSU).

In 2007 UNI went to the Quarterfinals (same as NDSU), and SIU went to the Semifinals (better than NDSU).

In 2008 UNI went to the Semifinals (better than NDSU).

In 2009 SIU went to the Quarterfinals (same as NDSU).

So, every year before 2010, an MVFC team went at least as far, or farther in the playoffs than NDSU did last year.

Try again. :coffee:

Nice Job! Obviously NDSU joins some other legendary MVFC programs in its playoff performance last season! The overall playoff record is right up there with some pretty good programs too!

Ps. What I meant was that nobody could remember a MVFC team going further then The NDSU BISON last season. I think there is still a good argument in support of that position, dont you?

I dont care about the history any more than anybody else. Its nice to see NDSU is right up there with the best of the MVFC. :thumb:

There have been a lot of teams in the MVFC to do as well or better than NDSU in the FBS playoffs. Nobody ever seems to win it though. The MVFC needs a great team, with a great football tradition, to break out and win it all. That is part of what the NDSU football Dynasty is about, the rest is probably self-actualization.

The win at Kansas last year is documented as a big win?

Not really...if you were the only FCS team to ever beat an FBS team, sure.

That was probably the second least impressive FCS over FBS victory last year, a head of only Liberty over Ball State.

Oh, and that Minnesota baseball team you are talking about is under .500 on the season, and 117 in the baseball version of the RPI.

Grandted NDSU is something like 220 in those ratings.

NDSU beat the Gophers. Thats enough for me.

Beating Kansas was way better than losing.

NDSU is among the great football teams in the MVFC.

The BISON are the favorites to take the whole bag of marbles this season.
8-)

At least NDSU is winning these games. UM Gophers are a bone-a-fide D1 Baseball powerhouse.

Minnesota hasn't been to the CWS since 1977.

They were pretty good in the late 60's and early 70's though.

Though I supposed to an NDSU fan titles and what not from that era still mean everything...so I get what you are saying.

UNI doesn't play Minnesota in anything.

UNI has had the better basketball program the last 7 years, have had 3 or 4 football teams that would have beaten Minnesota teams....and our best basketball recruiting pipeline is straight out of the Twin Cities.

Why go play Minnesota when we have a guaranteed FBS game within 2 hours of us every year? In terms of football recruiting those games do more than a game against Minnesota would.

UNI is 3-0 the last three years against NDSU in football
UNI's basketball team is far better than NDSU's.
UNI's club baseball team could beat NDSU's baseball team.
UNI's wrestling team is far superior than NDSU's.
UNI's volleyball team is superior to NDSU's.
UNI's track and field teams are much better than NDSU's.

I think UNI is the one winning.

NDSU's track and field is just as good as UNI(especially on the women's side), the other teams you mentioned do have a ways to go well except baseball which NDSU I guess the Bison win by default.

Oh and JBB, the Gophers had a good run in baseball a few years ago but they've been mediocre since(especially this year).

That is just not factual. UNI track is a perennial top 25 program, and finished in the top 10 in the country a couple years ago.

Oh, and Minnesota sucks.

UNI beat them in baseball multiple times, before we discontinued our program last year.

I think that NDSU's obsession with the U of Minn pretty funny. You guys are always looking up to them, comparing to them. They suck.

I do think UNI has the better men's track program, while NDSU is stronger at women's track. Of course the above poster just said track and didn't break it down. NDSU's men are solid(they are ranked ahead of UNI this year) but the men's program hasn't had the high level of success that UNI has had. The NDSU women's team has been exceptional and I know for sure were ranked ahead of UNI in each of the last two seasons.

So my comment was factual, and is much closer to the truth than somebody saying UNI is much better.
