Did Jorge Posada take his bat and pout home?

Post by dbackjon »

Was listed in the line-up, batting ninth. Alledgelly scratched himself in a hissy fit over that "slap in the face"

He's batting .165 as a DH...he has nothing to cry about. He hasn't hit worth a shit. I thought last season would have been it for him...maybe he finally needs to come to reality and go out while he still has some dignity.

What a little bitch. He's lucky that anybody is letting him be on their baseball team, let alone the Yankees. He's old, washed up, and is not worth anything to anybody at this point and he wants to cry about his spot in the order? lol

So, worse than Montana to KC? At least Montana didn't complain about how he was treated....

You don't bat a guy like Posada 9th unless you are trying to embarrass him/send him a message. At the very least, if you're going to hit him 9th, tell him long before you post the line-up card.

What Girardi did was worse than sit him.

I think it's pretty clear that Posada is not adjusting as a full-time DH. He wants to catch some. Martin has a history of injuries and isn't the best option to catch 140 games a season. The Yankees are going to go with Cervelli as the back-up option, and he's going to get more starts as the season progresses and Martin is rested more frequently. Jose Montero is at triple A and is pretty much major-league ready too.

As the season progresses, Posada is going to get fewer ABs at DH, as the Yankees use the DH spot to give aging players like Arod and Jeter a day off from the field.

When they gave a Posada a four-year deal three years ago, I posted that I thought the 4th year would become a problem. But there is a greater issue. The Yankees are just not hitting. It's hard to say what is going on in the clubhouse, but Posada's non-hitting/unhappiness over not playing the field may, in Girardi's judgment, be a drag on the whole team, and he's looking to settle the issue whatever the means.

Sounds like someone is putting himself before the needs of the TEAM. So much for being a TEAM player. If the TEAM needs you to pinch run, lay down a bunt, or (Heaven Forbid) bat in the bottom of the line-up. TEAM should come first and foremost, he must have forgot that.

This is what tends to happen when you have a team full of prima donnas.

(Curtis Granderson is the major exception here. He's a great guy, and I have trouble pulling against him... even though I hate the Yankees)

Willie...this is about Posada...not others. KYjelly is just stirring the pot...fuck him. If you don't recognize it, it goes away fast. I just wish UNH would do the same.

He's just a prick that has to flap his gums about everything, and is more often than not, wrong.

The problem is, Posada was never a great defensive catcher even when he was younger, and now, with age setting in, he's like Piazza was late in his career - a defensive liability behind the plate. And you're right, the Yanks are going to have a problem in that they need 2 or 3 people at least to play the DH spot and there's only one DH spot to be had.
