ChiComm Pelosi: "Stop having babies..."

Post by travelinman67 »

If a flash of early senility, during an interview with ABC's George Stephanopolous on Sunday, 68 year old, mother of 5, ChiComm Nancy Pelosi suggested that it was economically beneficial to our country for Americans to use birth control, so as to reduce governments need to provide health and education benefits for children...

...a great idea...offered 68 years too late.

PELOSI SAYS BIRTH CONTROL WILL HELP ECONOMY

Sun Jan 25 2009 22:13:43 ET
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."

Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury.

The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC's THIS WEEK.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

And one of those consequences is we need to abort more children! :? :? :?

What AZ said.

I've always been pro-life, but something I saw yesterday made me even more emphatically so.

While abortion has been around almost since the dawn of time, there is evidence that abortion, as conceived by Planned Parenthood, is in reality a "population control" tool aimed at the African-American community. This goes back to correspondence from PP's founder, who is revered by PP as a hero. A look at the stats supports this: it seems that a majority of PP abortion mills are located in inner cities, which have a preponderance of minority population. In addition, abortions are done in these centers with little to no disclosure of physical and psychological after-affects of abortion, which are numerous. Statistically, abortions in the African-American community are out of whack with the general population (proportionally, almost three times as many abortions are foisted on Black girls as there are African-Americans in the general population).

And that's not even getting into the horrors of partial-birth and live-birth abortion, where a kid is allowed to be born except for the three inches of his/her head, thereby avoiding a murder rap on a mere technicality, or the fact that in many states, a girl can be talked into an abortion without her parents' knowledge, while a mere aspirin required a permission slip. The logic in this boggles the mind.

All of which makes it absolutely CRAZY that President Obama is pushing legislation that will wipe away all protections on abortion, and in fact make it illegal for a doctor to opt out on conscience (it already is so in Canada). Why Obama would push for stuff that would adversely affect minorities, particularly his own, is unfathomable. Is he not getting the information? Or is he just stupid? Personally, I think it's the former; he's no Dan Quayle.

Whatever fellas.

Find me evidence that Planned Parenthood is actively involved in eugenics or the elimination of African Americans. That clinics MAY be concentrated in high population areas is lame for so many reasons.

Find me evidence that Sanger's thoughts on eugenics, very popular in her time, are actively incorporated into PP mission and practices.

Jefferson and our founding fathers owned slaves, should we disregard everything they believed?

Superhornet - please provide your statistics. Not saying you're wrong.

My thoughts:

Pelosi is right.

Tman and SH are poisioning the PP well with references to Sanger. Her thoughts on eugenics, some wrongly attributed to her and some grossly exagerrated, do not diminish her incredibly positive impact on women's reproductive rights.

You two don't get the irony, which is, that the work of orgs like PP and the heroic efforts of Sanger have done more to lessen the incidence of abortion than any christian org. They achieve this through effective sexual education and family planning advice, advocacy and dissemination for safe and affordable birth control. Abortion services are an option, one of many.

Abortion aint the only issue.

There's enough pork in this asinine "stimulus" package to feed the starving third world for a year. One hope I had with Obama is that he might actually be more fiscally conservative than GWB (a la Bill Clinton) but it seems I was wrong. At least Dubya's stimulus plan didn't have hundreds of billions of dollars of money for a bunch of miscellaneous charities championed by his party that have nothing to do with the economy. I certainly hope you guys have some non-paper assets. We may actually be two-f^&*ing trillion dollars in the red this fiscal year.

In the hopes of keeping my BP lower and in the name of good Christian civility, yes I know I haven't always practiced it, I will just simply say that, well, you KNOW my stand on abortion but what sickens me the most is Nancy Pelosi, who claims to be a practicing Catholic, has taken the most ultra pro abortion, population control and birth control stand of anybody I have seen lately.

I am surprised the holy water doesn't boil when she sticks her finger in it. Honestly, AND YES THROW THE PEDOPHILE PRIESTS IN WITH IT(because I know that argument is hanging like a carrot), she should be excommunicated. Just my opinion.

While there may be no proof to offer D1B, I will say this, in Greenville, SC the one active abortion clinic is in the proximity of predominant AA neighborhoods. Believe me, I've stood outside the place in silent protest before. Now, I will leave this thread. Peace.

I'm sure there's plenty of em in high population, urban areas. So what? It makes sense: clinics can serve more people and reach "high risk" groups including minorities and the poor. Again, the focus of PP is prevention, not abortion. Your villification of PP makes the liklihood of abortion greater.

Catman, I appreciate your emotional and spiritual interest in this issue, but don't allow that to totally cloud your judgement. As a catholic you can really help. Standing, even silently, next to an abortions clinic only serves YOUR needs. It does nothing but hurt the girl. Why don't you engage your church leadership and try to change it's ridiculous stance on birth control and only abstinence-only education? Prevention.
Prevention First is Focus of Planned Parenthood Services

Statement from Planned Parenthood of Northern New England

(Manchester, NH ) The recent controversy over students visiting our health center in Manchester, New Hampshire, ignores Planned Parenthood of Northern New England’s (PPNNE) important role as one among many essential groups working in collaboration with other youth-serving organizations to meet the health and educational needs of young people and the adults who care for them.

We were proud to be invited on a recent tour of prevention resources for at-risk teens in Manchester. We were selected by the YMCA because we share in the community responsibility to help teens navigate the sometimes-tumultuous transition to adulthood with as much support and as many resources as possible – and – we have a responsibility to support parents as well.

Over the past several years, much of our work has been guided by a simple goal: break down the silence between adults and teens in regard to sexual health and relationships. From professional training programs on the teenage brain to parent house parties and the recent Parent Expo in Manchester, the challenge and the focus has been to promote family communication and health in an era where teens are deluged by a highly sexualized popular culture.

Our community educator’s brief presentation to these at-risk kids focused solely on preventive health. Ironically, it was the protesters who raised the abortion issue as they clustered around the students, thrusting brochures at them.

PPNNE provides a safe and supportive environment where we work to provide teens and parents with the skills and health care they need. Our goal is to be a bridge – not a wedge – between parents and their teens.

Attention Broadcasters: If you would like to capture in actuality this statement as recorded by Nancy Mosher, President/CEO, please call 1.800.639.8058 after 2:30 pm.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. We believe that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child, and that every child should be wanted and loved. Planned Parenthood affiliates operate more than 860 health centers nationwide, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of women, men, and teenagers each year. We also work with allies worldwide to ensure that all women and men have the right and the means to meet their sexual and reproductive health care needs.

Where are these "abstinence-only" sex ed classes being taught? I was raised (and still am) Southern Baptist. I am from Trinity, NC (population 6600, churches = 40-50), my dad is a deacon. My parents always taught us abstinence, but "if you make the choice to have sex, here is what a condom is, here is what it is for, here is how you use it. If you make the choice, promise us you'll use a condom."

In 8th grade (I always went to public school--granted this was in the 90s) we had to take Health, and in that class they taught us about condoms and showed us how to use one (by demonstrating on a banana ). This was in the Belt Buckle of the Bible Belt. Perhaps we just had a bunch of sex loving liberals living in Trinity, but I very much so doubt it.

My point is, I don't see a problem with teaching abstinence as the best way to protect, BUT you can also use birth control as a means to prevent pregnancy and disease. But, to also ask a question, when did the way I was taught in public school change? It is ridiculous to teach abstinence only because it's naive to think kids won't have pre-marrital sex. Many of us may desire people refrain from pre-marrital sex, but people have always engaged in pre-marrital sex and always will. Why not learn people how to be safe and smart about it? Especially, since, a lot of these kids' parents are probably NOT the best role models?

If we're teaching "sex ed" anyways, be smart about it.

The federal government entices some schools with money, big money ($197 million in 2007.) If they choose to take it, many can't afford not to, they must teach abstinence-only. This started in the Clinton administration and was taken to ridiculous levels during Dubya/Christian Conservatives. Talk about wasting taxpayer dollars!

Here's some background: http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20 ... -50247.pdf

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01003.html

Agree, abstinence-only should be taught, along with birth control information.

Shame on you, D1B, for rationalizing ANY government's call for budget management via population control. With Washington's track record for burning OUR money like it's kindling on every form of pork and handout imaginable, to suggest American's throw their families under the bus to help fix Congress's mismanagement, is beyond comprehension. It's unethical viewed from any perspective.

I appreciate Pelosi "blunt" talk on a potentially volatile issue.

Contraception = no abortions and less goverment spending on the poor.

Why does it always take a woman to tackle the important issues? Thank you Nancy.

If she's so right, why is she stopping short when she can "fix" our entire economic crisis by merely extending the "reduction" in the number of poor people to the "next level".

Let's run credit and asset evaluations on all elderly people and those retirees whose wealth does not meet satisfactory levels should be provided information on "end of life" options. We'll call it "Retired Family Planning". The group won't actually distribute the products/services necessary to commit suicide, but will provide all the "options" available to poor retirees whose continued existence only needlessly costs taxpayers billions in health care and other government services to the elderly. I mean, seriously, who is government to interfere with a person's "right to choose" to take their own life.
Next, those services can be expanded globally through the UNRFPA program, and eventually expand these programs to include "unproductive" classes.
For example, with all these millions of American's losing their jobs, now that they're no longer needed to keep America's industy afloat, why should we waste billions upon billions in Unemployment Benefits, Cobra offsets, SSI benefits, govt. subsidized healthcare, emplyoee retraining... Similar to those useless retirees, by mandating terminated employee "exit counseling" via the "Chronicly Unemployed Family Planning", the "unproductive rights" of the unemployed can be preserved and "exit strategies" including methods to commit suicide, could conceivably save the taxpayers hundreds of billions.

Speaking of unproductive "workers"...I would zealously argue that those benefits be made available to Congressional members upon "separation".

So.....we shouldn't advise people who cannot afford to raise children without government assistance about contraception? We would rather they have children...that the government would essentially have to raise.... since the parents cannot afford them.....because, as Republicans, we believe in minimal government interference? Hmmmmm........

Some here deliberatly turn anything into an "abortion" issue. The birth rates for minorities and the poor are off the charts. They are groups in most need of realistic family planning and suffer the most from unwanted pregnancy.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

Planned Parenthood has done more to prevent abortion than all the preachers and priests and others who profit from Jesus combined.
