2011 NCAA Track & Field West Regional

Post by SDHornet »

So me and the fam (some of us at least) are making the long drive up to Eugene to see my sister run. Plus Sac State has a couple of talented athletes who will be participating as well so I’ll get to check that out as well. Anyone know of any border patrol checkpoints on I-5 that we need to avoid? :-P

Seriously though, unless something drastically changes we will be heading up next week to see the meet. We’ll probably be there for the whole thing (Thur-Sat). Anyone else in the area going to this? Any pointers on good places to eat or drink? We made the trip to Eugene before but it was for the ’09 XC Regional and we didn’t stay long enough to check out the town much. :?:

My nephew runs for Cal, but he's got he best Decathalon score in the country this year, well above the auto qualifier, so he probably won't compete at regionals.

I went to Hayward field for Olympic Trials in 2008. Awesome town, campus and venue. I'll be back next year as well. You'll enjoy it.

UofA. It’s been a hectic spring for me so I haven’t been able to make it to any of her meets this year. Last year I was able to make a trip to Tucson and Berkeley to see her run.

Thanks. I’m looking forward to it.

How does anyone live in Oregon or the Pac NW?!?! Cold, wet, and miserable all week...it's fucking late May for fuck sakes.

The meet was pretty entertaining even though the weather sucked.

The weather was bad enough in Sac-Town last night. The Sirens cheerleaders bailed because it was too "dangerous" to stunt. I guess they don't do non-stunt cheer. :-(

I hope the meet was better for you than the nail-biter of a football game was for me. The Sirens pulled out a 16-12 squeaker at the end with almost ZERO good work being done by the O'Line and the D'Line. Well, I should qualify that. The D'Line stood up at key times like a Portland 2-point attempt that got stuffed. Still, as I'm a big track fan, I hope you enjoyed that despite the nasty weather. At least it was probably on an all-weather track; anything like the kind of weather we saw late yesterday would have killed anything at my high school since we're STILL have a dirt track after forty years of waiting. Ugh!

Yeah no kidding. Nothing like a thread about NCAA track & field getting completely pwned by a SH sirens post.
BTW Sac State had 3 athletes (4 events) advance to the finals that will be held at Drake in 2 weeks.

I really only like one event in Track and Field.

Everyone's got a favorite. Mine's the pole vault, though I enjoy a good mile or 330 hurdle race as well. Not really a fan of the throws.

What's yours?
